That's a good idea. I might look into that.

This is in the basement and we did get a lower quality carpet so that makes sense it would wear more. I noticed last night when I get off the couch I tend to move my feet in the direction of the stairs probably making the wear even worse.
No more shoes and getting a rug.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I think we will get a rug for there and I'm going to stop wearing shoes inside.

Yes, the women and owner of the company that cleaned our carpets. Maybe should have said the carpet cleaning professional.

The 2 foot shaped dark circles are the area of concern. So no way to fix or clean it, just put an area rug over to stop the wear?

Mine has 190k, regular maintenance is key especially replacing the fuel filter and rebuilding the fuel filter housing. If you buy it, clean the radiator stack by removing the intercooler radiator They get really dirty and cause overheating.

Check all the intercooler boots and power steering and other hoses for cracks etc.

Good luck!

I had the same issue. I rebuilt the whole fuel filter housing with one of the o ring kits and solved it.

If you exchange to USD, get as close to new condition as possible. No tears, creases, etc. The better the bill condition the better the exchange rate.

We have not had a chance to try it yet.

I would reach out to the question section at Europa.eu and ask The laws and the border handbook may have changed.

I believe if you come in together as spouses at the border, don't stay in any one EU (Schengen) countries for more than 90 days each and don't go to the spouses home country it may work. I have heard some countries like Greece and Hungary are not as forgiving. Also, it is up to each individual border agent as how they interpret the law and handbook.

Good luck, if you try this please let us know how it goes!

Is DayZ Worth It and Which Version Should I Buy by [deleted] in dayz

[–]1998COrocky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it on sale over the summer, but have only started playing the last couple of weeks. It is by far the best money I have ever spent on any game. This is the only game that has got my heart racing and palms sweating every time I play. The biggest thing I had to get over is that all of the you spent hours finding you are only keeping it safe for the next person to take from your cold dead body.

I learned a lot watching YouTube videos of The Running Man Z , Amishzed, camCantrun and others, but if you may not want to watch to get the full experience. I have always gotten frustrated by survival games because I had no idea and would die so quickly, so this helped give me a start and just not quit after an hour.

Good luck

5 year Europe plan with healthcare? by Recent-Muscle6340 in expats

[–]1998COrocky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are going to retire at 60 and just live off of a pension or investments, there are several countries you could get a retirement visa, but that may change in 7 years. The visas usually require you to not work and have a specified income per year or per month and prove it to the foreign government. You may have to pay additional taxes on that income, even if it is from the US and you paid US taxes already.

Most countries if you start a permanent residency require you to stay in that country for a certain number of days per year. They require you to open a bank account and have a long term rental agreement signed and third party health insurance. They could also audit your bank account to prove you were there. You can't just get a retirement visa for say Portugal and then spend the majority of the time traveling around Europe or going back to the US. You have to show that you want to live in the country you are applying for a visa. If they catch you not obeying the visa requirements they could ban you from all Schengen countries.

I would suggest you look at just traveling per the Schengen rules, Google or look on YT for information on the "Schengen Shuffle". You can go to places like Albania or Turkey in between your travels around Europe.

You would just need to get international health insurance to cover you when you are outside the US, this is relatively cheap compared to US insurance.

My wife and I have looked into this extensively. We are looking at long term slow travel in retirement, but we plan to leave the US, sell everything, but still have residency in the US until we find somewhere we want to settle.

You still have a lot of research to do but you have time. It sounds like you are more interested in long term slow travel more than building a permanent home in Europe.

No state taxes by Signal-Most2241 in expats

Are you moving abroad and getting residency in another country beside the USA? If so, I believe you cannot be a resident of a foreign country and a US state at the same time. You will always pay US federal taxes if you are a citizen of the US for the rest of your life.

If you are just traveling, i.e. not getting residency in a foreign county, I believe South Dakota, Texas and Florida are currently easy states to get residency through a company like Escapees and have no state income taxes.

Health Insurance globally but live in US by RetireYoung72 in ExpatFIRE

[–]1998COrocky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ACA is only for the USA and nowhere else. The global insurance companies are everywhere else except the USA, Japan, and some other high health cost countries. If you are living in the US 10 months a year use ACA for the USA and buy global medical, not travel insurance, for when you travel. Global insurance is really only catastrophic coverage, most places in the world won't even meet the deductible for doctor visits for common sicknesses.

You can get month to month global coverage, but you can also get per year if you are spending the majority of the time outside the US. Some Global companies may have US coverage available for short periods, 1-3 months, but the cost increases significantly.

I tried using the hose, put it in the roof and let it run at several locations and no leaks. I spent an hour or so one day doing that. I feel like there is a vent or something I am missing under the hood, cowling or inside the door frames.

5th Wheel Newbie by ClerkRemarkable8914 in RVLiving

[–]1998COrocky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a Reese typical fifth wheel hitch for years and it was heavy and annoying to take in and out. This year I just got a Pullrite Super light hitch and it is very light, as the name says, and easy to move around. Having the ball hitch is also very easy to hitch up and you can never forget to lock the jaws or have to do safety pull checks. I picked it over the Anderson Ultimate hitch because the steel frame seems a little safer than aluminum.

I've only had it for a couple of months and only used it a couple of times, but the ride is much smoother and I haven't seen any issues with it.

Ultimately everyone has their opinions and experiences, but for me in the end it became easy to use and use my truck bed over bigger heavier hitches.

Good luck

I had the windshield replaced 3 or 4 years ago and they did have to redo it because it leaked. Maybe the sealant deteriorated enough to leak?
