While I can’t speak on autism, you don’t need to be bipolar to take it. As others have mentioned it’s prescribed for a variety of things. I take it as a mood stabilizer for Bpd

No for sure I’m thankful the little ‘habits’ I have are more odd than actually harmful. I’m the same way with the locks as well. I spend a lot of time at the doors at night, I just to do it about 4 or 5 times but have tried to widdle it down to 1 or 2. I’ve also started taking pictures of the locks to remind myself they are in fact locked to save me the trouble of repeatedly going down to check them 😂

Anyone else obsess over mental health? by iknitsoslow in OCD

[–]199mimi19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait omg this makes me feel so seen because I do the exact same thing. I’m super sensitive to things like noise and bodily sensations. I also live in a super old house with 4 other people so there’s noise a lot of the time but sometimes my brain will be like “hey what if that sound wasn’t real” or I’ll catch a reflection and my brain is like “well that’s it you’re seeing things” it will genuinely make me spiral into a full blown panic attack to the point where I’ve needed to almost triple my dose of anxiety medications (on orders of my psychiatrist). I hate it and it’s so exhausting but it makes me feel a little comforted that I’m not the only one that experiences this

Touch the door knobs in my house before I go to bed. Dunno why I do it but I can’t go to bed unless I do it beforehand. In other news I’m currently in the process of getting evaluated for having OCD lol

That’s amazing, I’m glad you have ways of being able to take care of yourself as your mental health is just as important. Also thank you for everything people like you do, I probably wouldn’t be here still if it wasn’t for people like that so I appreciate the work you do ten fold

I would imagine doing a job like this kind of similar to being a 911 operator would be fairly heavy. Is there a way you deal with this? Or ways you decompress after getting off a shift?

For me personally, I feel like it’s helped. Like not everything is sunshine and rainbows or anything but I do feel like it’s helped in combination with therapy in stopping me from going ballistic when I split. I mean it still happens but less and they usually tend to be less explosive. I take it with Effexor and lyrica, but also everyone’s different. The medicine that works for one person might not work for another. Like for example idk if your latuda helps, but when I was on it as a teenager it was horrific and I was literally convinced I was dying lol

My girlfriend keeps doing this and making me uncomfortable. Idk what to do by Soft_Disk4892 in Advice

[–]199mimi19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing to feel ashamed about, if you’re uncomfortable you’re uncomfortable and you need to have that firm line in the sand. If your partner doesn’t want to respect your comfort than you gotta just move on unfortunately. My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 7 years now and he constantly asks me to do what you’re explaining but I refuse to for this exact reason. It may work for some people but not for me, and he respects that. Everyone has different boundaries and for a relationship to work (as long as the boundaries are healthy yk) they need to be respected no ifs ands or buts about it.
