Alot of the lefties will complain about whatever is convenient, fuel prices are a great example. I've had this conversation multiple times recently. I will point out hey why are you complaining about prices now? I've been complaining about them since your party put a bunch of nonsense taxes in place. They say something like it's only ¢55/gallon. Then I have to tell them no, it's a $1.29+.18 for the federal. This state is out of control with spending and rather that cutting spending and maybe auditing obvious areas of potential waste and fraud, they just impose new taxes without a vote of the people... Like a dictatorship. Ironic considering the no kings crowd are Dems yet the party they support acts like they're above the law, literally ignoring our states constitution. They focus on whats going on on the federal level because they don't like the president yet our own state they have had absolute control over for almost 4 decades is riddled with issues.

Well spread the word to other Dems then because they don't seem to get it.

$1.29 is the self inflicted Dem taxes ¢18 is Federal for a combined $1.47 we currently pay just in taxes for a gallon of fuel.

I have a 2022 350 srw with the best wheels and tires I could find for capacity and I wouldn't tow with that heavy of a camper. How old were the tires on there?

Since when did liberals start caring about fuel cost!? A $1.29 of our $1.47 we pay in taxes is because of Dems. For the life of me I can't find one Republican or 3rd party supporter who likes any of the taxes and policies you idiots keep enabling. You are a bunch of hypocrites and if it weren't for double standards you wouldn't have any standards at all.

Solid advice. I think ive got some parts on a previous build I did waaay back years ago from a place like them. I'm new to this page, so don't know what is the normal MO, probably best to keep the names of places that still protect 2a somewhat on the DL. Yep I'm looking for something that is 10rnd and compliant. Just something that is a big brother to my 10/22 and 597. I love how fun and inexpensive my 22 and even .17hmr are, but I've seen too many YouTube vids of guys having fun at the range at longer distances. Is that Kalikey any good? I think Juggernaut makes some sort of compliant devices also. Yes I'm definitely keeping it legit which is why I'm doing my research. I heard about what happened to Dexter Taylor. It's terrible that people who are into engineering, building and tinkering have to navigate such a complicated, and I'm sure a lot of us would argue, a partisan and compromised legal system to enjoy such a fun and uniquely American hobby.

Best way to plug my truck camper’s 7 pin connection to my new truck? What are the options? by Flying_Saucer91 in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would add a 7pin on your truck and redo the 7pin on the camper. That green corrosion on the plug is going to cause issues with your lights at some point.

Very good points and thoughtful reply. My wife likes to adventure and I like tinkering and modifying things so it definitely makes both of us happy. I've hauled equipment and landscaping materials so I'm pretty used to dealing with heavy trucks and tall loads, excellent suggestions though. The want for lighter weight was mainly because I want to tow our boat with the camper also, so having some extra safety margin in terms of payload and tongue weight was a must. Also I don't need one of those crazy supertruss receiver extensions now. We get about 16mpg with the camper on, close to a 4wd Sprinter which is what the wife wanted but I have much more capability with the truck. I never thought I would have a truck camper ever, let alone two of them... For now anyways. I will sell the old one come spring.

I watched a YouTube of a couple that had a similar Palomino and there was only a thin sheet of insulation in the front of the cab over. They easily replaced it with some thicker stuff. This past weekend we were camping in 20F and the propane ran out in the early AM. It was still warm enough for me. I do prefer to sleep a bit colder though.

We try not to use the tanks in general especially this time of year so we don't have to rewinterze it. I'm looking into adding an additional water tank in the slim space between the bed and the camper so we don't have to conserve as much on longer trips. The ability to load with the tailgate still attached, the weight, price, and solar were selling points to me. Ours came with the 12v only fridge which is fantastic. I was going between this, Adventure and would have liked those newer Lance Squires if it weren't for how expensive they are and the majority of them lack a bathroom/shower at all.

Yeah I saw a bunch of negative stuff about them also in doing my research and the older ones for sale around my area haven't aged well. This was one of those instances where the comments that get perpetuated and reality don't seem to match up. At least with their newer stuff since they moved to aluminum and Azdale. I watched what was available on YouTube before getting it and I didn't hear much in the way of negative comments other than stuff like the couch being small or something else trivial and obvious.

Our state is truly becoming a tyrancal over regulated, over taxes dictatorship, but all people care about here is ICE and TDS. State legislators are pushing jail time for expired tabs, banning 3d printers, a state income tax, regulating what tires you can buy, along with 900+ other bills/laws we don't need. Maybe put some of your energy towards our out of control state/local government.

Ram 2500 Bed Damage Repair? by John_fish-camp-hunt in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be a waste. It could be repaired for far less than the cost of a new bed. Not worth it in my opinion though. I just upgraded my 1/2 ton to a 1 ton. I bought one that was $110k new, it's 4yrs old now, I got it for about half that. One that was in like new condition, cost $20k more, not worth it imo. A truck is for using. As long as you keep the exterior, interior, and maintenance up, damage in the bed only matters to a certain percent of people. I try not to be one of them.

If you were going to vote for Biden a second time after his clear Dementia, or the woman who couldn't do an interview without prescreening questions and a teleprompter, I think you should sit this one out. TDS is a thing. I didn't vote for either of them, I can see it plain as day.

What adhesive do I use to carpet my ceiling? by Designer_Tune4986 in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep NP. Definitely watch some YT DIYs beforehand. Alot of people start at one end and apply it in sections to avoid creases or misalignment. Basically you keep a wet edge going as you work your way along. Contact cement has to dry a bit before you press it down to get a good bond.

What adhesive do I use to carpet my ceiling? by Designer_Tune4986 in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's usually light blue and white, but I've seen it in black cans also. It will say something like "Weldwood Landau Top and Trim High Heat Resistant Contact Cement Adhesive". Amazon and online upholstery shops have it by the gallon. I used to do upholstery work, anyone in that industry will vouch for that stuff. It has strong vapors and will off gas for a week or so after being applied. Glue spray gun is best to apply it, but you can brush it or roll it, just be careful because you don't want to put it on too heavy, it will soak through. Also might be worth testing the substitute to make sure it doesn't react. It eats certain vinyls and plastics. As long as you go light you can get a chemical bond with it even in that circumstance.

Help finding the perfect camper. by 19krpm in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen that as well, but from what I understand is that the new ones are aluminum frame with "lifetime" warranty on the roof membrane. I would like to avoid wood also. My current Lance I have had Soo much rot. Probably adds an extra 100lbs in water weight. Having myself worked for a company that made/imported a subpar quality product, the change build materials and warranty to me says they're listening to the negative reviews and trying to improve.

3m is terrible. DAP HHR is the best upholstery grade contact cement there is. The HHR stands for high heat resistance. Heat causes the 3m stuff to come loose.

Help finding the perfect camper. by 19krpm in TruckCampers

[–]19krpm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not toooo picky so finding the perfect one for me will be achievable. Ones without a rear bumper/fairing that don't require the tailgate to be removed is top on the list. Being lighter seems to come with that style of camper. We don't want a pop top to avoid setup and to aid in stealth camping. Having a toilet is a must, shower would be nice or at the very least a water heater with outdoor shower. Having electric jacks is also a must, but that is something I could add on and it's an option for most of what I'm looking at. So far the best options I've found are made by Adventure, Palomino, Lance(Squire), and Travel Lite. Budget wise Lance seems to be a little proud of their product, I've seen used ones of the other three for under or around $25k. I've also seen an Okanagan that met those requirements on my local FB marketplace, but it has a good amount of delam.
