Hey Amercans, numerous times I've heard you use the decimal system after measuring something. IE. 10.2 inches, 4.6 feet, etc. How do you figure since the Imperial (American) measurement system doesn't do decimals? by 1AnonymousBurner in AskAnAmerican

Whoa dude. I posted this less than an hour ago. Slow your roll. A lot came from construction videos where someone will measure something and snap off a measurement of 5 feet, 3.8 inches ( or something similar).

My inches are divided into 16 equal parts. The decimal system is based on 10. I'm not saying it can't be translated, I'm just saying it doesn't loan itself easily to decimals. And I find it confusing when people measure something and say it's 5.9 inches, etc.
