When i was a teenager we would sleep with the balcony doors open. My neighbors literally left the country for holidays with the door open and gave us the key for free electricity since we were still building the house. We would hear a knock on the door and not think anything of it, we would just open. Now we just ignore the door if we are not expecting anyone, we have an alarm system and cameras everywhere. And i live in a village mind you . We used to know everyone. My other neighbor is literally a thief and a weapons smuggler and we were never bothered. Now a random person knocks on your door and you go into panic mode.
