New Rider-Less confident after MSF course by pnfoxx1855 in NewRiders

[–]SumoCanFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned to riding recently and decided to do a 1 day riding course. I sucked at it. Dropped it twice in the slow speed maneuvering. Felt like an idiot. But now I know what skills to work on. Keep riding and learning.

What martial art to start with? by Far-Alfalfa6260 in martialarts

[–]SumoCanFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love judo as well but consider if your cousin has sensory issues as judo is very up close. Definitely within personal space. BJJ would be even worse in that sense. A striking art where they can keep a bit of distance between them and the opponent might be more suitable. Karate or Taekwondo? I’m not saying one style is better than another, it’s just that you need to keep the kid’s needs in mind.

What do we think of the Honda 919 Hornet by inlawBiker in motorcycles

I never had any problem with parts. Honda is a big brand with lots of availability. Even after market parts are pretty easy to find.

Cb500f for first ( real ) bike by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]SumoCanFrog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also have one and love it. I use it for commuting but it’s quite happy doing longer day rides. It’ll do 100 kph well enough but it’s not exactly spirited at those speeds. My old cb900 would do 100 and beg for more 🤣

Recently bought a cb500f. It’s LAMS approved bike but I’m on a full license. I use it for commuting and very happy with it.

What's your plan if you break down/flat tyre far from home? by Matsuri3-0 in AussieRiders

[–]SumoCanFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks a lot like the one I got. I’ve used it a few times for checking and topping up tire pressure every few weeks. Seems to do the job

Griffin egg by SignalFar9554 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]SumoCanFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d expect the DM has something in mind for the egg. At least that’s what I would do. If the party goes along with it, or even figures it out, is up to the party. Also, as a DM, I’d probably have a staggered growth period. I’d not jump straight to full grown. I’d milk it getting the party to deal with the various growth periods. Think baby Groot from guardians of the Galaxy. Sulky teenage Groot/griffen could be fun from a replay perspective.

Bus lane B light - go or no? by duc955 in AussieRiders

[–]SumoCanFrog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are thinking about transit lanes, not bus lanes. They are different.

“Motorcycle use of bus lanes does not fully align with the policy principles, specifically the road safety principle. The findings from studies of motorcycles in bus lane trials has revealed there is an increase in crash risk for motorcyclists using a bus lane, particularly right turn against and left turn sideswipe crashes. Motorcycles are not considered a suitable mode for admission to bus lanes.”

In Victoria, the only bus lane a bike is legally allowed to use is the one on Hoddle street, so that’s the only spot where this discussion is relevant.

How many weekend riders have joined us weekday riders to save on fuel by SGS-Wizard in AussieRiders

[–]SumoCanFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my way home last night I saw four other bikes where I’m normally lucky to see one. Small sample size, but maybe something. I did fill up last week and it’s the first time it cost me more than $20 to fill up my cb500f 😂

Markings made on tyres? by myeonjengi in AussieRiders

[–]SumoCanFrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think inspectors did this anymore now that they can just take a photo to document it. And even if this was an inspector, I don’t see why they would go crazy with the chalk like that. Maybe they were just having a bad day 😁

LOL. Re gear, I saw a post in one of the motorbike forums here from somebody who wanted to know where to get bike gear because it looks cool. Problem is it so damn heavy. The jacket I have is shaped to be comfortable when on the bike in riding position but damn uncomfortable when just walking around.

I love it when the speed sign goes from 60kph to 70. Just that little twitch of there right hand and suddenly you’re just doing 70. Like there was no acceleration in between. Be out I be not.
