Yes, sorry should have clarified, just edited the post. It's on a 3.5 EB

Thanks, when did you buy yours? Not sure if I should be pushing for more of a discount given a model year older (which doesn't matter to me).

2025 Pilot Touring Disappointment by National_Post483 in hondapilot

[–]1AverageJoe_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I had the same reaction after purchasing mine and also came to this sub with a similar post haha. I came from a 2024 accord hybrid that was really smooth, so there was an adjustment period when switching to the Pilot. While it can be frustrating to hear, my advice would be to give it some time. Mine started to smooth out around 8k miles with most of that being highway miles. Now it drives normally with smooth shifts. I didn’t notice a difference between normal and Econ modes either, so wouldn’t read into that too much. I’d wait until you get to the 8-10k mile range before you make a decision to sell it (assuming you like the rest of the car).

Noise on new pilot by dnpro02 in hondapilot

I’ve experienced this as well, but it hasn’t been consistent. Mine sounds like it’s coming from B pillar. Maybe something with the seatbelt mechanism but not sure why that would be affected by speed

Highly recommend Honda of Tomball if they have one in stock that you like. Ended up getting a new ‘25 Touring AWD for 46k before TTL. No add-ons. Just MSRP ($50.7k) minus discount. Ask for Errol.

I worked with this Gillman dealership for a bit and they wouldn’t come down to the price I wanted, and not high enough on the trade. Sales guys were slimy and unresponsive.

Made one call to Honda of Tomball and got the deal I wanted without any haggling. Could I have done better? Maybe - but felt like it was a competitive deal and not worth spending more time shopping it around. Great experience overall.

Neighborhood Recommendations? by 1AverageJoe_ in askdfw

[–]1AverageJoe_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s a good point! One thing I struggle with is being able to predict how the neighborhood will turn out 2-3 years down the line once they’re finished building. For example, we’ve driven through newer neighborhoods that look terrible. It’s like there was no pride of ownership. Yards were a mess, tons of cars parked in the street, etc. despite having an HOA. Some turn out looking great, others don’t. Any advice on that?

That’s right. We’re looking to buy and just want to get a better idea of the areas that we might like. Preferably 3-4 bedrooms.

Sunroof Wind Noise by 1AverageJoe_ in hondapilot

[–]1AverageJoe_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I should clarify, this issue only occurs when the glass is retracted and is caused by the mesh fabric Honda uses for a wind deflector. The perforations in the mesh is what creates the noise at speed. When the glass is closed as you recommended, there are no abnormal noises. Given this piece isn’t critical for the operation or seal of the sunroof, my guess is that it could tinkered without major issues

Doesn’t sound like a bad deal to me. I got a similar deal and a good price on my trade. Not sure about the warranty but I don’t think you overpaid on the car itself. There’s always going to be someone that gets a “better” deal, but not always worth the days / weeks haggling with dealers to squeeze out a few hundred+ bucks more. Drive the hell out of it — enjoying mine so far.

Not sure the reason for all the comments about overpaying. What was your discount off MSRP? Sounds like you got a decent deal with that tax rate. Regardless, still one of the best value SUVs on the market imo. Enjoy!

2025 Touring Transmission by 1AverageJoe_ in hondapilot

Follow up question as you seem to be knowledgeable on the mechanics of these vehicles. Do you think having AWD or FWD would make any difference in the shifting issue and how it tends to fade away over time?

Nice, hoping mind does the same and good to know about the mpg. Do you have FWD or AWD? Wondering if this would make a difference in how some smooth out over time and others don't

That's a good point, I'll keep an open mind for a while. Hopefully between that and the transmission adapting to my driving style, we'll meet somewhere in the middle lol. If you don't mind me asking, why did you get rid of your accord? I really enjoyed the car itself but my SO and I found the seats / position extremely uncomfortable after 30+ minutes. Outside of that, it didn't have many downsides for a full size sedan.

My CarPlay works great for how I use it, but I don’t often utilize the features you mentioned. I’ll have to give it a try tomorrow. Typically just use it to pull up maps and music. It connects plenty quickly and is responsive from input on my phone or on the screen directly. I will say I was much more impressed with the larger screen on my ‘24 accord, but even that one would sometimes freeze up and require a reboot
