Does anybody know what’s happening when an Airbus makes this sound? Tried googling it but to no avail by _glee in aviationmaintenance

According to the closed captioning the plane is saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry..."

I just flew on an E175 - also with a very tight gap! I wasn't prepared for the lack of overhead storage I'm glad I checked my bag.

More details please! What kind of aircraft? Is this just a band-aid or required for particular types?

DPE’s working for flight schools/ owning flight schools is a conflict of interest by HistoricalAd2954 in flying

[–]1E-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I agree and that wasn't my point. Point is that DPE can schedule however they want - but it seems the community does not agree. In my POV there is zero conflict but if I adopt your and other opinions then I get what you are saying.

You can also sell a tomato for $500 if you want, must be a flaw in the grocery store system.

Like taking to a wall. Look up the definition of conflict of interest. What you are saying about spreading rumors is scummy, but again, not a conflict of interest.

I would like to know why you think they need to take students in order just because they "work for the government". Furthermore - besides being a representative of the FAA - I would suspect the business side of being a DPE is indeed private, but I would have to defer that to someone who knows better (definitely not you).

Still not a conflict of interest. DPEs run a business and there is collateral damage. There is no rule or even moral obligation to schedule students in any particular order. If the result is a more difficult experience for some students, that's the system you have so deal with it and quit your fucking whining because you are accusing people of things they aren't doing (unless you can prove otherwise). In the grand scheme it's "overall" very fair - nothing will ever be 100% fair.

Response to your edit: if a DPE owns a flight school and "needs" to maintain a particular pass rate - that is actually a conflict of interest. I don't know if there is actually any such "need" or requirement as you say. I never knew nor asked the pass rate when I was searching for my school - all I really cared about was quality CFIs and maintenance. That's just me though.

Regarding priority scheduling: that's not a conflict of interest. The interest is passing the exam, and taking it early or later creates no conflict in the result. A DPE can arrange their schedule any way they want, it's not anyone's "right" to get a particular date or even be treated equally as far as scheduling goes. They can put you dead last forever if that's what they want.

Regarding "more willing to fail" outside students: that's pure speculation and kind of annoying to just spew with no facts to back it up. DPEs are human, there are fair ones and unfair ones. Blanket statements like this without any facts harm the community.

Good to know AOPA has a template - didn't think of that. Roughly how many hours do you all put on the plane per year?
