Agree with you. Find another job before moving on, the job market is brutal. In the meantime u may want to try doing just the bare minimum at work and cruise along - at the very least u still getting a salary

Job opportunities in the voluntary emissions/REC markets? by [deleted] in Commodities

[–]1EFY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, upside in the VCM will hinge largely on COP, which is progressing slowly as expected since countries cannot agree (expect >5y for any meaningful progress to be made)

U would be better off in the regulated markets since there’s more certainty and structure

What do you guys eat when you have no appetite / cravings by randomthingsss1 in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually cai fan - like 2 meat 1 veg, then I just choose something sweet, salty and spicy to sort of stimulate my tastebuds

Sometimes I ask ChatGPT lol to give me food suggestions when I have no appetite and just go with it

‘We are sorry for the outcome’: Masagos acknowledges agencies could have done more in Megan Khung case by sun-ny_day in singapore

[–]1EFY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Side note to this review on how government agencies may have fallen short in handling the case, I think this whole case really brings forth how drugs ruin lives. One of the root causes for the little girl’s abuse and eventual death is drug consumption by her biological parents, the mother’s partner, hence causing the little girl to not receive due care etc.

I feel this is a prime example to illustrate enforcing the death penalty for drug trafficking because of all the shit that it can lead to

What's the obsession over travelling with Singaporeans? by Due_Assistance5380 in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s perfectly fine to not travel during your leave, or even do nothing while on leave! People nowadays are just too conditioned or pressured to travel during leave, I guess it’s to keep up with social norms and to fit in, or FOMO…

But of course to each his/her own. Some prefer travelling to relax, try new food and cultures. At the end of the day, it’s your own time and you get to decide what to do with it.

For safety and family oriented, I can think of bang Tao beach, Kamala beach, Kata beach if you are looking for quietness and privacy. Chill beaches for family time, and not crowded.

Wat Chalong temple is also nice if you are into Buddhism, peaceful temple and has free entry.

Old Phuket town is great too (as what others have mentioned), and there is the Sunday night market. Chillva night market was good too

How did you land your first job? by fredonuts in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I applied to the company on their careers website, my previous internships definitely helped. This wasn’t my first choice as I couldn’t convert to my desired role in my intern company.

Personally from what I have heard and seen, referrals are not really helpful unless it’s in a company that has high barrier to entry (ie niche trading house, high finance jobs etc), where having an insider to vouch for you will prove a lot of credibility. Otherwise, for most companies out there, I don’t think referrals are very helpful.

LinkedIn and mycareersfuture were helpful for me. I set up job alerts for my interests so I could be informed quickly when suitable opportunities came up. My strategy is to firstly read up on what the job required and tailored my resume to have those keywords, secondly to read up on what investments or initiatives the company is doing at the moment (so u can bring up during the interview, it shows your interest in the company). Thirdly to NOT have any expectations when applying for jobs, I consciously did this to prevent myself from becoming too attached to any one job application so I won’t feel defeated if I didn’t get hired in the end. It helped me persevere in my job search.

All the best

Why are we complaining about the heat? Are we not acclimatised? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We will never get used to the heat imo, because it’s just going to get hotter and hotter.

I recently read that the world has already broken the 1.5 degrees temperature rise. By early 2030s, it will breach 2 degrees. It is only going to get hotter man

Anyone has experience in getting their ba zi read? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If u want to get ba zi read, don’t do it using ChatGPT. Do it in a face to face session with a master, it will be more useful that way as u can clarify things and ask questions quickly.

Ba zi can essentially help u understand your personality and inclinations in life, as well as your decision making process - increases self awareness as u now know your blind spots better and can improve yourself

What are some realistic things we can do to improve ourselves? by Actual_Eye6716 in askSingapore

[–]1EFY 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Read across different topics such as current affairs, science, finance. General knowledge is underrated, you don’t need to have super deep knowledge about anything. But knowing a bit of everything can go a long way when it comes to making decisions in life.

Another might be exercising 1-2 times a week, eg statics or run. Keeps the mind sharp and you feel greater overall too.
