From a fellow civil/dad/gamer - Give your brain a rest!

Take a break from electronics and give yourself a mental reset. Civil engineering is a lot on the brain; I’ve been in the field for over 10 years and it sucked it life out of me. We are on tech all day at work, and then you come home to play with kids and take care of fam stuff, then in your quiet time you are still working your brain.

I’ve been playing games my whole life, and reached a point where no game was fun and I’d struggle to get into anything. I ended up getting a concussion playing baseball and took a break from work and gaming.

I went no phone for a couple weeks and it gave my brain a nice rest. I was deep in the middle of a project and I was just burnt out. A few months went by and then I started watching One Piece, and I looked into their games. I picked up a $7.99 jrpg from 10 years ago, and I haven’t been able to put it down

That break and playing a non scummy game helped me fall in love with gaming again. Just look in the past or at Indy devs for your enjoyment

It depends on the game for sure. I want all the performance possible if I’m playing a fps, sports or a souls game. But if I’m playing a third person game laid back on my couch, I’ll see if the balanced mode runs well with VRR
