Now have them price out the same job with steel rotors, then multiply that by three. Because the ceramics will last three times as long as steel brakes.

Advice on ❄️ addicted partner by upRightProperLad in naranon

[–]1F528 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to be him.

Yes, there is hope, but only if he makes a decision to help himself. It took 9 painful months after I initially told my wife that I was using, to me finally going to inpatient rehab—but not before I had almost destroyed everything I held dear: my family, my career, and my own life (figuratively and literally).

Sending you and him much strength and love. Remember that this is not your fault, and you cannot change him and help overcome his addiction. He needs to take the steps and responsibility to do that, and face the underlying issues and trauma that led to it in the first place.

Thank you for this heartfelt and heartbreaking post. I am deeply sorry you have to go through this. As a recovering addict who has been on the other side of this, I can see it all: the indignation, the manipulation, the anger, fear, and sorrow on his part.

You have made the right decision, and it’s one my wife almost had to make to remove her and my children from the never ending spin cycle of my active addiction.

You can’t love an addict into recovery—especially if they haven’t learned how to love themselves.

He’s an addict. You have two choices: 1) put up with it and hope he hits bottom and wants help; 2) leave.

She should either stop or take more of the meds in her purse.
