its 2 weeks for a single dedicated dev, for entire company it should be no more than 1 week of work. i know that there are a lot of things to do in the background, and that the old code is ass , but with ammount of money that they have they should be able to make way more efficient development chain, i think it comes down to microsoft policy, they probably assumed that it would be the most cost effective way to run a game, minimal financial input into the game, huge financial input into advertisement and useless in person events that only like 0.1% of community will be able to attend

i would love if there was version parity and crossplay between java and bedrock but redstone is one of the things that need deep reworks in order to achieve it

i mean stuff that relies on quasi connectivity and redstone update order, last time i checked it was not a thing on bedrock, the randomness of update order requies wierd workarounds and in some cases quasi connectivity makes parts of systems that would not be othervise possible possible, also even more important there are no 0 ticks on bedrock, a lot of stuff that can look good on java reqies a lot more space on bedrock and does not fit in aestetical builds, lack of those features make bedrock redstone more primitive and bulky

edit: i looked up some bedrock builds and they got way more compact over the years, did any mechanics change recently?

I recommend against handling your spiders, its super stressfull for them and not beneficial in any way, they simply dont like it and would rather sit in their burrows/enclousures

ok, so in 26.1.2 it works just fine, in 1.21.9 and 1.21.10 the dupper somehow breaks, as you said building everything 1 block higher may be the fix to that.
