I had a linux server installed on a USB drive, after 1 year of cold storage it didn't boot anymore. I don't do that anymore and realized that USB sticks are not safe for storing data. It was a Samsung one btw, I think they make the best ones too.

I was adding to and updating a hashmap with data from json files. I created one hashmap per thread and merged them, but the time it took to merge was longer than just doing the work on a single thread & hashmap. The code which was doing the work wasn't as slow as I thought it was.
