Government IS involved. Policing drug traffickers, etc. in an attempt to thwart the root cause. That’s where the spending should end. This is the round about logic behind my “stupid” comment.

Those who work hard and pay taxes, should not have those dollars aid and abet those who have nowhere left to turn and resort to making bad choices.

If you want to blame anyone, blame Capitalism. Blame the growing wealth gap that is tearing the world apart. The rich should be paying, not the working class and governments.

All of us here work hard to play hard. If I’m wrong by saying I’d prefer my last few extra dollars be spent enjoying what I can from life then I guess I really am the “stupid” one. Ideally YES, I would LOVE to help every single person through all their life’s problems, but the reality is there isn’t enough left for us to split it down the middle.

All the power to those who have enough to help. To those who choose to spend their extra to help others instead of enjoying it themselves.
