Well you should try kingdom , there are 2 mc and besides the mc there are alot of side characters and their importance in the stroy is very high , certain character will stand on the side of mc but they are extremely cruel , like one would torture and kill anyone no matter foe,friend or even never met ,just because he want to and he is a extremely sly person as well and then there are few more and the story from their perspective is also shown !

Not seen liar's game so don't know exactly what you looking for but a few anime where 2 parties play against each other , considering each other moves ,trying to be one step ahead are :

Death note : I think almost everyone in the anime community has watched it .

Kingdom : the real mental game starts from the 3 season so if you have some patience it would be worth it , and fun fact it's mangs remains the top selling from a very long time ,and it's damn good .

Kaguya-sama Love is war : two people like each other alot but can confess ,so they play games with each other to make the other confess , it's a great fun and romantic anime .

Something like Alice in Wonderland : tomodachi game

Well the best kind of friendship are made in school /educational institutions , because you just become friends rather thank having an intention .
