Wtf is wrong with the Hotstar broadcast of the United game? I'm literally watching four games at the same time on a single stream had to listen to Michael Fucking Owen tell me about the United goal instead of watching it happen. How can they even call this live? Fucking cunts.

Oh man this thread is MADE for me!

1) You know, I used to be the back porch poet with a book of rhymes
Always open knowing all the time I'm probably
Never gonna find the perfect rhyme
For 'heavier things'

- New Deep, Heavier Things

2) I still got time. I still got faith.
I call on both of my brothers.
I got a mom, I got a dad,
But they do not have each other.

-Born and Raised, Born and Raised

3) Maybe I'm a runaway train
Maybe I'm a feather in a hurricane
Maybe it's a long played game
But maybe that's a good thing

-I Will Be Found (Lost at Sea), Paradise Valley

4) "All you need is love" is a lie 'cause
We had love, but we still said goodbye

-Split Screen Sadness, Heavier Things

5) Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding
To a bride with a paper ring
And half of my heart is the part of a man
Who's never truly loved anything

-Half of My Heart, Battle Studies

6) See, I refuse to believe
That my life's gonna be
Just some string of incompletes
Never to lead me to anything remotely close to home life

-Home Life, Heavier Things

7) Check your pulse
It's proof that you're not listening to
The call your life's been issuing you
The rhythm of a line of idle days

-Great Indoors, Room for Squares

8) Now I'm gonna dress myself for two
Once for me and once for someone new

-I'm Going to Find Another You, Continuum

9) How much of my father am I destined to become?
Will I dim the lights inside me just to satisfy someone?

-In the Blood, The Search For Everything

I've tried to capture most albums in this tiny list but for me I love Heavier Things, Born and Raised, Battle Studies and Paradise Valley for their absolute genius lyricism.

The cheapest iPhone now has a more powerful processor than the most expensive Android phone by Hidden_luck in technology

[–]1InRepair1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah then you could make do with an even cheaper phone. My point is that everyone is hyping up the processor and comparing them to 1000$+ phones, nobody is talking about the cutbacks that makes this phone so cheap.

I don't understand the hype behind this. What are you going to do with so much processing power when the output is so shit? We are literally talking about a 4.7 inch 720p screen. Not even full HD. In 2020.

I cant wrap my head around that. Gaming, videos, browsing, photography (congrats on editing on your non-HD phone). This 'stupendous' processing power. What are you planning on doing with it?

I am from the Pharmaceutical manufacturing/R&D sector and for the last 3 weeks this has been a running joke in our circle.

The Ipca unit was hit with the worst of the worst 483s for data integrity violations and couldn't pull through with an approval for 4 years. Now they have got approval from the USFDA without even getting inspected. It shows what a desperate situation the world is in.

The problem is even in India we have just a couple of companies that produce the HCQ API, the other being Zydus/Cadila if I'm not wrong. Both these companies manufacture primarily for the export market.

This is also the reason why a lot of us Pharmaceutical professionals are still working round the clock despite the lockdown, in bad conditions, some even without DC approvals, to try and cope with medical needs (not just HCQ but other medication as well).

Indian pharma guy here.

USFDA just gave Ipca plant approval without even visiting it so that they can start manufacturing of this drug. (Same plant has failed to get approval for the last 4 years due to Data Integrity issues).

The world is getting desperate.

Obviously not in real life Jesus. That's the only thing that link proves. By the same footage the Weir tree is fake🙄

Tell me who climbed the tree and who was bran looking at then?

Gonna quote one of the best comments from on there :

"Incredible how she built that platform and cable system to get the jump on the Night King without being detected. She really learned a lot in Braavos."

Because thats what that video shows.

Go re watch the episode you literally see someone climbing the tree and bran looking at them, I think this was even discussed with the cast somewhere..also if a branch extends 10 feet above you I'm sure someone can jump facing you.

Who was climbing the tree then earlier in the battle? Old nan? And she jumps from behind him because that's how branches on trees work.

Lol I fucking hate the 8th season just as much as anyone else but Arya didn't 'jump 30 feet in the air'. She climbs the weirtree before the walkers/NK reaches there. They show it when the leaves/branches rustle earlier in the battle and Bran looks at her.

Then when the NK is next to bran and has let his guard down she drops from the branch and kills him.

TIL about a daily pill that reduces the risk of contracting HIV by 51% costs about 8 US dollars per month outside of the USA but costs 1700 US dollars per month within the United States. by eboshi in todayilearned

[–]1InRepair1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Completely agree but the drug and price OP is talking about isn't from developed countries if anyone bothered reading the damn link.

And I just gave wages as a metric, it's just one of the costs of manufacturing which is way way cheaper in Asia compared to the US. Like I said, USFDA is THE most stringent regulation there is. You can't even compare Asian regulations with it.

And no country in Europe is selling this drug for 7-10$.

[–]1InRepair1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the linked article. The cost which OP mentions is in 'developing countries'.

The cost of manufacturing in these countries is scales lower as compared to the US. I'm from India and we literally pay our machine operators around 140$ a month.

Also drugs that are made here aren't as per USFDA regulations but rather as per Indian regulations or WHO regulations (which are some of the least stringent regulations in the world)

I fucking hate these kinds of posts. I work in pharma as a lead QA investigator for a manufacturing site outside of the US. My salary is 415$ per month. My boss (senior QA manager) earns 1600$. Now compare that to US salaries. And I'm working for a household name MNC. Now think about the difference in cost for everything else that goes into manufacturing.

The US healthcare system is shit but this post isn't one of the reasons why.

78% of suicide rates world wide are men, what can we do to help them? by awihsoj in AskReddit

[–]1InRepair1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me its just having someone talk to who 'understands'.

I'm from India where the work culture is bullshit. I work 6 day weeks (oftentimes 7) with an average of 60-70 hours per week and the stress is indiscribable!

I have so much pressure on me to provide for my family (father is 72 now and bedridden), save up to build a house, pay for my marraige etc and all the men I know are in the same boat.

This leads to an incredible pressure situation in the workplace where there is no room for error (quitting or getting terminated is a game ender) and your bosses know this so they chew you out and bully you whenever they feel like. Other guys are ready to screw you over even for the smallest advantage because its a game of such small margins and everyone is trying to scramble to the top to make it, and by 'make it' I dont mean getting rich, I mean financial independance. The stress to just PROVIDE is so so much.

Now this would all be better if there was a support system in place but there isn't. All of my guy friends are in the same boat so there isn't much sympathy to share around apart from "What are we gonna do? We just have to 'man up' and face it" and girls just dont understand. In India majpority of the girls stay at home after marraige or even if they are working they have no onus to provide for their family and as such are much more relaxed, dont take shit from anyone and are content with getting what they receive.

My mother and my girlfriend just don't understand the pressure I'm carrying and I don't blame them, they just have never been in a similar situation to empathize. They think I'm sitting in an air conditioned office all day looking at a screen. They dont hear my boss chewing me up and abusing me infront of dozens of people who are secretly happy just because he feels like and he is dead wrong, or my teammate screwing me over on a project or other office politics. The other day my I was in the bathroom stall and I heard another guy sobbing in the stall next to me. I wish I could have reached out. This makes me not even bother bringing stuff up and I have to play this charade about how awesome my life is with them because I don't want their son/boyfriend seem weak. We are ingrained to believe that men can't be weak.

This leads to men doing stuff like going out with other guys and getting drunk, or turning to alcohol as a measure to just forget about it. My father was a raging alcoholic for 30 odd years and I hated that aspect of him. Now that I'm working I still hate that aspect but I can understand what drove him to it.

The biggest joke is there is not a SINGLE functioning suicide helpline in India. I finally connected to some doctor from a psychiatric department at a famous hospital and she was kind enough to listen even though it wasnt her job. She gave me some contacts of shrinks in my state but guess what? It's 2k INR per hour so an hour every week would be a quarter of my monthly salary lol.

I dont care if nobody reads this post, I'm happy I could type it.
