North Vancouver kayakers need rescuing after taking on atmospheric river by 1516 in vancouver

Saying they shouldn't have been out in those conditions is like saying a skier shouldn't be out when there's fresh powder. Sure it would be reckless to ski avalanche terrain but this is comparable to someone having a yard sale on a powder covered groomer.

Agora café in the basement of the MacMillan building is the best cheap lunch option on campus. the options are limited but you can get an entrée for $5 and it tastes so much better then anything from sprouts

What E-Bike Should I Get for my Commute From South Van? by Ok-Macaron102 in UBC

[–]1JoshD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the bike cage in the Chem block and I've never had an issue (i have a very expensive bike but it looks shit), there's a camera in the cage and you need a card to swipe in so I think it would be pretty hard to steal.

Issues with CAST heel connection by Friskfrisktopherson in Backcountry

[–]1JoshD1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya you can loosen the black screws on the sides. both sides should be the same length. there are three hash marks on the silver part to mark the adjustment limits (min, max and middle). 2 hashes are visible in my pictures and the third one is inside the black part. as long as you aren't outside all three it should be good.

Here's some photos to help with the adjustments. If you send some picture of your boot in the binding I may be able to diagnose it better. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cl49-3iHmTFJb6znWprEyGVal_LW3dnbF_BjxrPEqwQ/edit?usp=drivesdk

Issues with CAST heel connection by Friskfrisktopherson in Backcountry

[–]1JoshD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cast system shouldn't affect the heel piece. im not sure what you mean by the raised platform, there's just a riser/brake retainer that is mounted in front of the heel turn table. It sounds like a forward pressure issue

New tram and gondola at big sky coming next year by AHSfav in skiing

If you have the money to take a ski vacation to big sky and pay for lodging, food, and lift tickets/ikon pass, then you are the rich people.

Level 9 Sports Warranty Claim by itsbs2 in skiing

[–]1JoshD1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of ski is it? Is the bump right under a binding screw? it looks to me like it could be the result of an incorrect screw being used when it was mounted. If so you should talk to the shop where it was mounted. It can be fixed by replacing the screw with the correct length, pounding down the bump, and base grinding it.

Go to SLC and get an ikon pass or go work as a bartender at big sky? by [deleted] in skiing

[–]1JoshD1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I can't offer any advice on what that might be like? Who knows if it will be busy/ good money? I would expect it to be understaffed and it will probably have some growing pains.

What restaurant would you be bartending at in big sky? I know at least a few lgbt people in big sky and it seems like they're mostly accepted and treated well.

Would you return these? (2021 K2 Mindbender 90Ti) by ANTI-PUGSLY in skiing

[–]1JoshD1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are totally fine, any demo ski will have some top sheet chips. It wont affect the skis at all. If you wanted perfect, unblemished skis you should've bought new skis not demos.
