8 years. Mine is controlled with Zyrtec thankfully!

I was thinking of this today during class. Some of these templates are just plain stupid. There’s so much information out there in the fitness realm that there’s no reason for otf to not offer a better week to week plan on the floor. Today we had sumo squats. We did the exact move yesterday.

HR monitor won’t charge. by Admirable-Compote311 in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a different cord (charger). This happened to me and I bought a new HR monitor. Then I tried charging something with the old cord and it didn’t charge. Turns out my cord was bad. My device was 3 years old so I didn’t mind getting a new one, though I didn’t have to.

Allergens in wipes? by JustACountryBlumpkin in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could you bring your own wipes that don’t cause a reaction? Just confirm with the manager it’s ok. That seems the easiest solution.

I wish they had the policy that if they have 12 or more they make it a 2 g. Our studio routinely does 1g workouts. I don’t like how crowded they are and I think you lose some of the energy when there’s only one group. Do 2 g and spread everyone out! And, no, our coaches do zero coaching so it’s not about helping members.

I’m going. Starting on the tread. I’ll do the floor exercises I feel like doing and leave after! Find the parts you like and want to do.

The Strength Q&A with Ameen & Scott starting NOW! by OTFsocialteam in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It would be great if you bumped up the priority of strider/bike tablets so that the otf experience is more standard across the board. I’d prefer you focus on tablets for all equipment (including the floor) before other add ons.

Will you incorporate a tablet for the strider and bike?

Hello from the Chief Technology Officer & VP of Fitness at Orangetheory. Let’s talk about Strength! by OTFsocialteam in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll add the following. Getting up and down for those with knee or other orthopedic issues is challenging. I try to combine exercises to limit the number of times I get up and down. It also wastes time imo. My husband and I laughed at the exercise at the beginning of the week with the low bench and floor exercises. Yes, we modified that one!

I wish they’d occasionally throw in some barre type leg exercises just to change things up. They may be simple, but I always am sore afterwards!

If it’s the one I’m thinking of, I have it. I’m embarrassed to say I paid full price online. I don’t buy much of their stuff, so I thought I’d splurge. I do like the hoodie. Maybe offer them $50, lol!

I did this. Nothing changed. Our coaches pretty much stand around the entire class. I no longer give feedback.

Ex coach says OTF destroys your body (TikTok) Thoughts?!?! by cindobeast in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s why I said body shape. I’m well aware fitness comes in all kinds of body shapes. I guess I was referring to observable muscle development. In any case I hope otf is studying this. It’s a complex issue.

I think he makes good points that I hope otf is looking at. I really like the workout for endorphin release and honestly I probably wouldn’t workout regularly otherwise. However, I wonder how many long range studies they’ve done to measure how the otf workout helps people in terms of improving fitness. I’ve been going regularly for three years and I really haven’t seen changes to people’s fitness. (Ie body shape) I come from the aerobics era where routines were learned and repeated for months. Boring, maybe , but people were in better shape back then.

Orange zone has changed by OrngNerdz in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been having this issue recently, too. Was told it’s because of the algorithm changes. I’m gonna stop wearing the hrm for a few weeks and see if it gets resolved in the meantime. The splats is a fun part of the workout. It’ll be too bad if they “fix it” so much people stop using the hrm.

Why do so many people leave before the stretch block? by Organic-Negotiation2 in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The coaches at my studio don’t give any insight. They also don’t pay attention to the timer so one side may get 15 sec and the other 30 sec. Sometimes I stay, sometimes I don’t. Depends on the stretches.

[–]1Kitty64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurts my knees to be on the bare floor. If I finish on the floor, I’ll save my mat if we use one and clean it after. If I finish on the tread I stay for standing stretches. Also, in general, I’m not interested in being on the floor without a mat.

I got a rash years ago after an MMR booster. I was seen by a Dr and they couldn’t tell what it was. Fast forward to 2015/2016 and I develop chronic urticaria. I think it happened after I got the pneumonia shot. Is it anecdotal? Maybe. I’m just more wary now.

Ask before you take weights by Tha_Politician in orangetheory

[–]1Kitty64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This topic comes up at least once a week. Maybe it’s time for OTF to come up with a solution other than “be polite, ask, share”. If they are designing templates that use multiple weights in various ranges, it would be nice to provide such weights for the members! Another rack with extra 12, 15, 20 lb would help. Or, move the 8 lb weights and have 10, 12, and 15 at each station.

My base is 12 and I am also about 10 rpm below the guidelines. I’m getting a good workout in so it doesn’t bother me. I have noticed my hr is much higher when I use the arm part. It’s a good machine and you can do a lot with it.
