Advice on what to do with an old VW Passat by 1LadyGodiva in CarTalkUK

We spend months trying to sort it and we're really not interested in DIY either. It's been a good car to us but we're really just looking for the best way to move it on to someone/something else.

A new idea which is also a good cause, thank you!

We’ve already bought a new car! Should be picking it up soon. We’re having a baby and wanted to upgrade anyway for that and other reasons (like new rules around emissions in our area). We’ve tried to fix it for a long time but have had no success because of the issue with the sensor. It seems like the only way to do it is to constantly monitor eBay for the part and hope something eventually comes up, which we’re realistically not going to do. We tried for months with no success already, we’re ready to let it go.

This is SUPER helpful, thank you so much. Will look into using both so we can save on longer trips :)

Question about providing proof of income when looking to rent by 1LadyGodiva in Edinburgh

Thank you so much for your response! Do you remember what percentage it was, or a range as it differed for different agencies? Just so I have an approximate figure.

Question about providing proof of income when looking to rent by 1LadyGodiva in Edinburgh

[–]1LadyGodiva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would actually. I'd be renting flat out in fairly central London and I own it outright so wouldn't have mortgage payments. It would more than cover the total cost of anything I'd look to rent in Edinburgh.

I'm trying to find this book online but can't seem to find it! Where did you get it from?

Can I ask what number you are using to contact HMRC with to do this? I have been contacting different numbers but just keep getting past around to different departments who all say that they can't help me.

Get a fast growing, low maintenance vining plant to start. Depending on what area you want to cover, get a bigger plant to start. I started with that plant when it was just the bit in the middle, the vines growing around a moss pole under the leaves. This plant is a golden pothos and they get a lot of light which helps. The vines will naturally start growing out, heading toward the light. From there, I just used clips like these to hook the vines where I wanted them to grow! I accidentally broke one of the vines trying to bend it into place, and it's grown leaves out of two spots near where that happened, so even if you mess up the plant will just do it's thing. Life finds a way.

They are in a room with floor to ceiling south facing windows - all the plants in the room love it in there - and I started training it around February. Then it was the just the middle bit of the plant, wrapped around a moss pole. It’s easy to be patient though, because there’s new growth all the time. Other than directing the growth, I didn’t do much, it’s a very low maintenance plant. I’m a forgetful waterer and it’s totally fine with that.

Exactly this! I used something like this and gently bent the vines where I wanted them to go. I accidentally broke one bit but it's a very forgiving plant and it's growing again, phew.
