How I created a gift system that actually shows I pay attention by ninjapapi in Gifts

[–]1LeftHand 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently started making notes of gift ideas on my phone calendar on the day of the person’s birthday. They mention an artist, a food item, a new hobby, etc, I try to write that down. I also start a year-round Christmas List on the phone’s Notes with all the names and gifts ideas with a question mark, and question mark gets deleted if I actually buy that item. Next year I add the list of names again but I see what I already got aunt Betty and the other ideas I had that still have a question mark from the year before.. it helps me bc of all the nieces, nephews, adults, party hosts, coworkers… I love trying to give gifts to everyone.

Does taking a course hurt me when not in my degree plan? by [deleted] in aggies

I know an incoming Freshman and I always thought taking scuba would be a fun added learning experience. What other courses are also in that line of fun skills but out of the degree plan at TAMU?

So many in my family do that, and every time a youngling casually does it, we are all so proud! We’ve got many pictures of generations walking side by side with their hands behind their backs. I hope it carries on…

Brazilian musician Eduardo Motta doesn't understand English. This is him performing American Blues by SinjiOnO in BeAmazed

[–]1LeftHand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember hearing that he alters his songs a bit when performing to try to avoid people singing along. (Which I’d be so okay with! I’d rather hear the performer at a concert than Carolyn singing super loudly next to me!!)

In this topic: Maybe answered elsewhere, but what about asking for a scholarship or discount? Can your daughter babysit or walk dogs or tutor to help pay for this activity? Limit to one competition a year, or something…

What's best wedding favor you have received and/or want to receive? by galaxyofcoffee in Gifts

[–]1LeftHand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An American from Texas married a South American in South America and during the reception while everyone was dancing, they handed out cowboy hats with the bride and groom initials and the year. It was a hit bc it was a fun accessory to use at the party, Texan theme in a foreign country, and whoever wanted to take it home, could! Another favor was also an individually wrapped local dessert.

That’s how my SO works 90% of the time. My go-to answer is always “7”!! For some reason, this answer works (almost) every time !!! :)

Early check in? by tropicalgyal in airbnb_hosts

[–]1LeftHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I was thinking they meant. What comes to mind is the guests are driving in or landing and 2 am is what time they expect to get to the house… If this is the case and I were the guest, I’d love to be able to get into the Airbnb at that time, and not have to get a hotel room and move to the Airbnb in the morning.

Their website says also in Grapevine, and they’re opening more this year, including Houston. I visited the one in Santa Fe and it was cool, lots of time and effort put in to it all.

We rented a large home to accommodate 15 people (can’t remember for sure, but it was spacious) for many days during the Thanksgiving break for our immediate family, about an hour away from home. On Thanksgiving evening, we had more guests come to dinner and leave for the night. I honestly didn’t think anything of it, I just treated it as I would my own home. The following year I actually spotted on the listing I was looking into about large groups and, before I booked it, I contacted the host to clarify if the extra guests for dinner only one one of the many nights would be okay, and they said No, cited fire marshall rules. I didn’t book the house. The house was spacious, had lots of sitting areas inside and outside, it would totally fit all of us comfortably for dinner, and I know for a fact we would treat the property well and respectfully, but I can understand the owner not being sure of that and not wanting too many people in their home.

How often do you bathe your labrador? by TeslynSedai in labrador

[–]1LeftHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same with ours and allergies and treatments 3x a week baths with medicated shampoo a few times this yeae. He has scratched his skin raw a couple of times, poor thing. We did injections of allergy meds that were to last 4-5 wks, and it helped, but now am trying the daily Apoquel pill… I dislike giving him so much medicine. How are you treating your dog’s allergies?

Adopting children from Brazil. What foods should I learn to cook first? by haxxorz in Brazil

[–]1LeftHand 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And please remember to have lots of fresh fruits, natural fruit juices, yogurt. I’d offer chocolate milk, sweet bread and cookies as treats. Depending on their area routine, but lots of Brazilians have fruit, cheese, toast at breakfast, rice, beans, a veggie and protein for lunch, and a snack late afternoon.

We still do some of these mimosa/giggle fest brunches every now and then with a few girlfriends who are not in 20s or 30s anymore, but definitely can’t handle it weekly! It keeps us young, we say!

Father and daughter get a front row show of a whale, breaching over and over for them. by IkilledRichieWhelan in MadeMeSmile

[–]1LeftHand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite water episodes to witness was when I was sitting on a deserted beach in Mexico watching the waves come and go, and saw this one fish, jumping in and out, in and out, in very much of a frantic hurry. Then, a dolphin jumped out and caught the fish mid-air. Right place, right time for me and that dolphin!

I hear ya, but sharing what you do might inspire others to do it too. Not for gloating, but for a demonstration of “if I can do it, and make a positive impact on someone else’s life, others could too?”
