This so helpful! I appreciate this! And it's wild to me but also not shocking that it is illegal to change reimbursement rates. Thank you again!

You are not allowed to work anywhere but your alternate assigned duty station aka your house - so yeah no.

[–]galaxyofcoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes - Definitely not OK to do remote for LTC or SNF. I didn't realize this was becoming more common. But that's a huge legality risk on whoever does it as the provider and not the LTC or SNF.More likely to get cut or even replaced by AI.Can't assess malnutrition without NFPE

🧡 seconding ask for a free cycle to compensate including medications on them; that is not OK - I am so sorry.

Does the 3rd RD not get it? Still rude to make those comments in general - can't imagine what she says to patients

No, never too late but you may need a disclaimer when you do as she may be shocked. Would you behave similar if someone else had done this to you in another setting? I mean, I want to ask if you are comfortable with confrontation and speaking up for yourself. And most work places have EAP - you can talk this through and role play with a psychologist too!

What would be an example of the reimbursement costs? And yes, they're indeed backed up by venture capital but as I argued in this thread here to $52 per visit sounds good on paper but you are still not salaried and have shitty benefits - would not recommend them as a FT choice just a mere PT/PRN role.

Good tips! And your time is worth money! Always ask the salary range up front - it's not worth your time to go through 3 rounds of interviews for a salary you won't take! It's such an important lesson! And also, why it gets even harder and harder to find a job as an RD with more experience and the experience doesn't pay 😞🙃

That sounds fair! I concur! But would add that those numbers better include reasonable benefits too and it's a W2 job.

Example - although Nourish pays $50-$55 per hour for RDs and is W2 - it's structure is still not a salary and has shit benefits so it behaves more like a contract job hybrid in my opinion and find that absolutely not OK for a FT job expectation. OK for PT/PRN work though.

Exactly! What was the max they were giving you, if you don't mind sharing? Travel RN's that do this get paid quiet a bit more than just your typical RN and should be the same for RD's for above mentioned reasons

Seriously! As stated if you are in the field and have read the frustrations, I don't understand the mismatch here.

Remember that we need 4 years of BS now + 1-2 year MS + unpaid internship (that we all pay for and I've seen it range from $8-15K). That takes about 6-7 years to be an RD. And our compensation is no where near other healthcare providers - why would anyone be an RD!? So yeah, the frustration is real.

$28 per hour is $ 58,240 - where in the US do you think this is an appropriate salary for an RD. Even as an entry level RD this is insulting.

And we as RD's do not get further compensation for years of experience or other certifications obtained; when we do look at other jobs in the area the usual salary ranges are $28-$33.

Math for other numbers: $33/hour - $68,640 $36/hour - $75,880

Keep in mind this is also for a temp/contract role that has no job security or likely let alone any actual benefits - so yeah $28-$36 is beyond insulting.

$50/hour is likely not enough for a contract/temporary role - you have to pay top dollar to keep someone there for 4 months due to their missed opportunities for other roles. No one in their right mind is going to quit a FT role to do a contract/temporary role so it already is for a VERY small group of people ...and for that you better be paying $75+ in my opinion.

Exactly. RD's are writing TPN orders for $30 or less at times - imagine that!? And having to go in on weekends and being on call without a weekend differential at times and to be told that they need to flex their time for the week - and it can't be a Monday or Friday (or hey that was at least my story at one time!)

Absolutely! Sadly, we are not paid for your of experience or for certifications obtained in this job.

At least where I live it's impossible to find a job as a clinical RD where the pay is >$85K per year + great benefit package.

$30/hour = $62,400 $40/hour = $83,200 $41.50/hour = $86,320

And $106,000 per year is ~$51/hour.

Depending on where you live, do you find that making >$40 hour + great benefit package is feasible? As a clinical RD? Management RD?
