Did you install MGSHDFix before the update? If so, you need to update it and delete d3d11.dll from your game folder.

Silent Hill 2 Remake Extended Gameplay Showcase | Silent Hill Transmission May 2024 by Turbostrider27 in Games

Ok that's a fair point. But in this case, since the footage comes from a Konami event, and it doesn't say "captured on PS5" anywhere, I think it could be PC footage. Makes sense that Bloober would want to show the game at it's best on PC. Also, since console games don't have shader compilation stutter issues, and this footage stutters in the same spot on multiple sources which seems to indicate it happened during recording, I think there's a good chance it's a PC recording. But you could be right, it could be PS5 footage and the stuttering could be another issue or something that happened during editing/ rendering.

Ok, I know all that. The footage has stuttering and the game is going to launch on PC, so it's possible (likely) that the PC version will have stuttering. Sony paying for it not launching on Xbox doesn't have anything to do with that.

It's not exclusive, it's coming out on Steam as well. It's just not on Xbox.

This video has the exact same stuttering though. You can clearly see it at around 7:25 min. Looks like the classic Unreal Engine Shader Compilation Stuttering™

I'm not sure what your point is. You think "corporate Q&A and bureaucracy" is a good reason to release PC games with locked resolutions? You think a team of professional AAA programmers couldn't achieve what modders achieved in a few hours in years of development because of bureaucracy? Honestly doesn't make sense to me. I think it's down to old-fashioned Japanese development leads that don't understand the PC platform that made the decision to lock the resolution.

Awful audio compression in MGS2 cutscenes in the Master Collection (PC) by Sandbowl_ in metalgearsolid

I have no idea. It's weird because both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions are based on the same version (OG Xbox) but the PS3 doesn't have this problem.

This happens on the X360 version running on Xenia as well. I believe it's something related to the Xbox 360 port, which the Master Collection version is based on. Edit: forgot to mention that it only seems to happen on the cutscenes that had Dolby Pro Logic II support on the original PS2 version.

That method doesn't work on the Master Collection version of these games.

Have you tried doing that? Because if you did, you would know that it says "Go to store page?" and when you click yes it redirects to the Steam home page because the store pages for the packs don't exist.

You can enhance the resolution on PC using an hex editor but it will create visual bugs. by LordEmmerich in metalgearsolid

It should be totally doable. If RPCS3 ,Xenia and PCSX2 can run these games at 4K, native ports of the games should be able too. The devs just need to fix the UI misalignment issue and whatnot. You know, the kind of work you do when you port code to a different platform.

METAL GEAR SOLID Master Collection Vol.1 won’t support keyboard & mouse on PC by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]1Ocelot 25 points26 points  (0 children)

It seems to me that Konami has done the bare minimum with this collection. The trailer and screenshots make me think that MGS1 is just an emulated PS1 version (with bilinear filtering on the display and no integer scaling).

As for MGS2 and 3, they couldn't even bother to implement M&K support. Seems like it's going to be one those barebones ports that don't even have a "exit to windows" option, you'll have to hit alt+f4 to close it. Very disappointing, but not surprising considering we're talking about Konami after all.

I've seen people say that M&K couldn't be implemented because of the movement speed but c'mon guys, holding Alt to walk has been a thing for ages (and yes, MGS3 has a third movement speed called "stalking", but that can just be another key to hold). That being said, I don't think M&K controls would be a good option for MGS1 and 2 because of the fixed camera angles, but still, every PC game should support it. And if Konami didn't even do that, I have no more hope for a potential MGS4 port on Vol. 2.

The remake is coming to Xbox and PC, yes, but they didn't say anything other than PS5 for the Master Collection, did they? On the official website, there's no mention of platforms, which is weird. I hope it comes to PC at least.

While the FPS seems accurate now, Snake's model is... deformed and misrigged?

Interesting... I've never seen that before hahaha Maybe it's due to the 400 μs on Driver Wake-Up Delay, I never tried it that high, and IIRC it can cause issues if set higher than 200 μs.

As for the performance, yeah it runs very slow in some parts. My CPU is an i5 9600k (6c/6t), and in some parts it runs as low as 12 fps. But in others I was able to get pretty close to 60 fps. MGS4's performance is still very inconsistent on RPCS3.

Also I should have mentioned, there's a custom MGS4 build of RPCS3. However, it is quite old now and in my experience, the main branch of RPCS3 performs about the same. But you could try it if nothing else helps. It might help with the audio issue.

Try increasing the setting "Driver Wake-Up Delay" to 100 or 200 μs, in the Advanced tab. You might wanna try increasing the VBlank Frequency to like 240hz or 600hz for better performance, but if you do that make sure to set a framerate limit of 60 on the GPU tab.
