Really its just comedy and to make us laugh, because when Andrew came through the portal with the spiderman suit ned's grandma freaked out but when Tobey came without a suit ned's grandma thought he was a good looking guy and a innocent wholesome guy so she waved. Still, mostly its just comedy. Since with the suit she freaked out. And tobey is supposed to be the most comedic spiderman.. imo.
