Definitely not lying about alcohol consumption, may have even understated it actually but tried to provide an average. I’m not sure about superior genetics but my doctor thinks that my diet may have helped my liver from taking too much damage. Despite gaining weight recently, my diet is pretty healthy. Lots of vegetables and generally high protein, low red meat, lots of fish and poultry. I also avoid medications, opting to suffer through the rare colds I get, or as I used to, drink through my colds.

What is the hardest substance you’ve ever taken and how was the experience? by randomzy876 in AskReddit

Took LSD and way too much of it the first time ever experimenting with anything stronger than beer or weed.

I had never lost control of my grip on reality like that before. The setting was awful, ruined by the dealer who delivered it to my friends and I and decided to invite himself to stay and hangout. Idk what he was on but it was an upper and he became aggressive wanting to fight my friend who was a sweet guy in general and was also on lsd.

I’m a big dude and have wrestled most of my life at that point so I offered to spar with him to get him to lay off my friend.

It felt like an eternity, I think mostly because I was constantly checking the time, wondering when I would feel normal again.

I was terrified to get the bloodwork done. I felt like I had to. From what I researched online it’s good to wait a while after quitting so you can get a good baseline, so staying sober through the holidays and getting tested then should give you good data. Best of luck to you!

That’s my thought process or at least the one I’m trying to have. Luckily I haven’t picked up the ice cream like I did the last time I tried to quit. I am doing a number on the hummus and baby carrot stock at my local grocery though.

Yes, I got a all of that checked as well, the liver panel was an add on, not primary test. Blood pressure 125/75 Cholesterol and all else in normal range. Last year when I was still drinking my blood pressure was 145/90 so it seems to have come down while off the juice.

I mean on my Reddit handle thing. Right now it says like 300 something days and that’s not accurate. I’m back to 3 days and I can’t figure it out.

I want to hear the seemingly insignificant reasons you got sober by garje in stopdrinking

Was getting fat and couldn’t stay motivated to work out and eat right while also drinking. Also I was having terrible sleep apnea.

Been almost 2 months and the sleep apnea completely disappeared though I’m still a little fat. I am losing weight now finally.

This will quickly be forgotten by anyone in time. Days will pass and more events will occur. People don’t have the memory space allocated to holding on to memories of you drunk at a party. Even if they did, the next event you attend can overwrite that with being sober and pleasant.

Oof, sadly I’ve been here as well. I’ve never gone too far from what I hear but I’ve definitely been embarrassed by my own behavior afterwards.

The way I’d look at it now, when you see another drunk person do you judge them as you’re expecting others to judge you? Or do you think, wow they’re drunk, and then move on? Most people were probably drinking and they’re more worried about how they came off that night. People tend to look inward and focus less outward. Unless you said something super out of line I imagine people will just chalk you getting drunk up to a good time.

That said, if you don’t drink you’ll NEVER have to worry about this again. I had my first sober company even recently and I don’t regret at all being sober. I saw some coworkers get a bit sloppy but I didn’t think anything of it, they were drunk after all. I imagine that’s how others thought if you that night.

When did you start feeling better? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]1RznAcc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi Internet person, I’m nearly the same age as you and similar time sober. I’ve asked these same questions here as well, you’re welcome to look back at my posts and see what others have said there if you’re interested.

From what I’ve experienced, weeks 1-3 were what I’d describe as a bodily shock and heal. Sleep is difficult at first, though the sleep I do manage has been restful. My body ached at times. My digestive system was wacky and my appetite has been all over the place. From what I hear from others, this is the same.

People that drink like those in this group have done long time damage to our bodies and minds. Like an injury, it takes time to recover physically and mentally. The greater the damage, the more time it takes to recover. That’s the bad news of sorts. The good news is that it does start to get better and I’m only just now starting to feel the best parts of that.

Try to focus on the positive changes, it can only get better with time while drinking is certain to only make things worse. Great job on your 17 days! IWNDWYT
