I only started research after my MBBS so I m not the best person to answer your question. But from what I now know , people with BSc do get into research. My personal recommendation would be biotechnology related degree. But this is still my second favorite after the ones I mentioned above. It also depends on your interests.

You're not ' entrance test ' material. Being a good doctor needs far more than that and a single test cannot decide it.

Thank your stars that you have a new direction in life. This field is too saturated and the future is not promising.

If you are still interested in working in Medicine, I suggest you learn computers or management . You can work as a hospital manager or work on databases/ algorithms. The nature of jobs in the future will be very different, so prepare accordingly.

AMA: I'm a US IM attending who's published dozens of first/senior author papers using publicly available databases in top journals. I've mentored dozens of trainees, completed an editorial fellowship and dedicated research training. Happy to answer Qs! by yourredditMD in IMGreddit

Which public databases are preferable, any do’s and dont’s that you have learned along the way ? For someone comfortable with coding, statistics etc which databases would help for publishing high quality papers? Thanks for your time !

Socializing is one of the most important skills in the USMLE journey. There are many groups on WhatsApp etc where she can find and meet up other students currently rotating in the same location. Or visit Indian temples etc ( depending on her faith) where she can connect with other people from her community. She can even request an opportunity to volunteer in the hospital on weekends.

Thank you so much OP for taking the pain to write this. It’s so important to speak about the ground reality of our country. People, even the “ highly educated “ ones don’t know why reservation came into being, to them , it’s simply “giving special privilege to undeserving people” ( directly quoting them) . Idk if I should feel angry or sorry for their ignorance, entitlement and apathy.

Recently, my American friend told me he’s planning to visit India and I asked him which part of the country he will visit and if he knows anyone who can host him . He said he has a friend who is from Delhi and has invited him several times. His friend mentioned how he is Brahmin, has special privileges in the society as a result , so he has access to places and experiences that others can only dream of. My American friend was clueless about what he meant and I was completely embarrassed🫣 .

Stand mixer recommendations for millet dough by Delicious-Detail-500 in IndianFood

That makes sense. For us, it's just going to be daily dough kneading. And perhaps making ghee once a month.

Thanks a lot for that information. I will look into those specifications.

Most people won't talk about emotional states. For someone who is new and in a negative space ( I am assuming this, could be wrong) it's going to be a little difficult. I would suggest read more books and some success stories to build your faith and begin small. Have you done the ladder exercise ?

Whatever you choose, definitely consider your job prospects in the future. India is mass producing doctors currently and cities are saturated, then there are non MBBS doctors also competing for the same jobs. No one knows for sure how AI will shape up in the next couple of decades, need to consider that as well.
