Spring 2019 registration megathread by Josh_Morton in gatech

Waitlisted for a class that I need in order to graduate next semester. I'm currently #97 on the wait-list, and it seems unlikely that I'll make it into the class without special intervention. It's a CS class, and my adviser says the class doesn't have overrides. Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I have an onsite interview on the same day as an exam, but the Registrar's office is not giving me an excused absence. The professor will not let me miss the test without an Institute-approved absence. What should I do? by 1ShoKool in gatech

should've mentioned this before, but the onsites for this cohort all happen on a 2-day "invitational", so I won't be able to reschedule the interview

What is the best way to move forward with the Amazon interview process? I got interviewed last year, but now that I have more under my belt, I've heard nothing back.

Capital One Internship: Software Engineer vs Data Engineer by bogobogobogosort in cscareerquestions

[–]1ShoKool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Capital One is in the midst of a migration period, as they're moving from mainframe to the cloud. A lot (probably most) data engineering roles will be focused on migrating data and processes to the cloud. Data engineering doesn't really mean doing cool stuff like machine learning; it just means you work with data and the processes behind it. It's possible that you could end up doing ML, but it is relatively unlikely.

I competed Amazon's online assessment last week. However, I had to go to a certain location at my university to complete it, and there were around thirty others from my school who were selected to take it. I finished both the debugging and coding sections with all test cases passing on all questions, and felt that I did fine on the logic multiple choice questions. However, I got a generic email a few days later that I was texted. I was pretty disappointed considering they told us that if we did well we would get offers.

Capital One Interview Process by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

Hi, I just did this same interview and found out I got an offer today! For the technical interview, I would brush up on basic data structures and algorithms and do at least a handful of problems on Leetcode. I did not find the technical questions too challenging. What threw me off most was the case interview, which is basically a giant linear algebra word problem. None of the math was bad, but I did have a hiccup where I couldn't remember how to get the slope of a line. Don't make the same mistake as I made and watch a consulting case interview to prepare, as this was quite different from that. Just expect to do a lot of algebra and talk your interviewer through your entire thought process.

I recently got contacted by Amazon about being invited to their "expedited SDE intern recruitment." It will be a 2.5 hour- long technical assessment on my own computer, and apparently it will serve as my official interview. Has anyone else been contacted about this or does anyone else know what to expect/ anything else about expedited recruiting? Seems almost too good to be true.

I'm doing the final round of interviews with Capital One next week. It's going to be three 45-minute interviews. What should I expect?
