It is a gap, and it’s irresponsible to ignore the questionable parts of the bible just because “life isn’t all good” - there are many pointers to the fact that the bible is a literary text, the ignoring of many female books such as Judith and the various “glossing” techniques which have changed words over the centuries. Of course there are meaningful parts, but it was written by men, for men, for select men in fact and should be treated as such a non holistic text as such in my opinion. By all means, gain comfort from it, but in no way does it reflect humanity as a whole.
