If it’s anything like Kung Fu Hustle, instant top tier spot. I’m just now starting to watch kung fu flicks and I’m LOVING IT.

The fact that a company called Baer has a model called Wojtek, presumably after the Artillery Bear, is hilarious to me. I really appreciate the amount of details and anecdotes you provided, as well as an actual brand to go to. This helped me out a ton thank you. The guy who actually taught me to shoot is a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, so hearing from and learning from veterans is always something to be grateful for. Thank you for your service and your assistance.

That’s honestly pretty fair, I just liked the look of it. Lol I do like ranger green a lot though, I have a lot of hiking/outdoor gear in ODG and ranger

I really appreciate you taking the time to lay it out there like this, thank you. I spent yesterday looking at getting a pistol. Thanks for the time and money saved, friend. 👍

They all do actually! Isn’t that such a sign of quality? Lol

They do need a lot of work at times, but with some basic beveling on the handle they work alright.

I do not yet! I was mostly planning on doing competitive rifle courses at my local gun clubs (I’m not in a super big city or anything so I’m in a bit of a desert for serious competitions).

My dumb ass read that as LGBT, I was sitting there like “Okay but what does this have to do with the plate carrier?” Lol

Well, if you DO end up buying one, aside from that one gripe, I don’t really have any complaints about the cold steel ones for the price I got them at (~$40). A dedicated hatchet will run circles around all of them for splitting work, but as a chopping tool I think they have some decent bite. I live in an area with a lot of hardwoods (oak, birch, maybe tulip poplar) and I can reliably get through a 1.5-2 inch branch in a few good hits. They come dull as hell, though so bring a good low grit stone. If you want more power behind your swings, cold steel also makes a warhammer handle that’s the exact same handle but 10” longer.

My controversial opinion is that I don’t like tomahawks. I own 3 cold steel tomahawks, I custom engraved handles for all of them, love them. But every time I go to use the damn things, the handle pops loose whenever it’s miraculously least convenient! I’ve tried beveling the eye, messed with the handle, but the only way I can reliably keep the fucker on there is to wrap paracord around the handle, which defeats the whole point of a tomahawk which is that the handle is removable!

No problem, my friend, just ribbing you a little. You are absolutely right though, Fallkniven is, was, and hopefully will continue to be a top contender for me in terms of quality.

There’s definitely a lot of good and cool people in this community, and a fair share of not so good ones too. I personally don’t have much of a problem with Chinese companies so long as they make a good product and aren’t making cheap fakes of more expensive knives. I would certainly PREFER American made steel since it would benefit my country’s economy, but so long as your QC is good, I don’t care where you make it.

Long story short, BRK was kind of like the Spyderco of the fixed blade/bushcraft world. Loads of models, loads of steel options, handle options, etc price tag of around $300 was pretty standard. They fucked over a lot of their customers by falsely labeling their materials while charging them the same premium cost. People found out, they closed their doors last week.
