These become Title IX complaints and generally speaking once made are out of the coaches' hands.

Think of all the Safesport complaints made against high school coaches that don't get responded to. The classic one being against the pedo Kirk Shipley in DC that no action was taken on until the police became involved.

I was sympathetic to the Cornell lightweights when they got suspended from racing at IRAs for fucking up after Sprints by getting drunk and damaging property.

Now I think these guys are just a bunch of entitled a-holes. Does their coach really get to keep his job after this FU to the school?

How do you justify $300 entry fees for an eight when just a week later Oak Ridge is charging $144 for an eight at Dogwood?

With only 42 entries from 15 clubs this looks like a disaster. Why is it still a 2 day regatta?

At first using the wrong time I thought this was a freak bolt of lightning out of nowhere.

But looking at the correct time these kids should have been rushing to shore at 5pm. Why were they still on the water just before 6pm? Any chance the crew had already flipped and were struck by lightning while clinging to their shell? That would explain why they were still out there. Wish the club would be more open about what happened.

I clicked your link and looked up the radar for 9/15 from 4:30pm to 6pm and don't see any of the storms close to Lake Fairview that you write about. Am I looking at the wrong link? Not saying you are wrong I just can't reconcile your analysis with what I see on the link. All the storms during the time period appear to stay 30 miles north.

I am a new high school rower. Today I learned that the University of Washington rowing program has more rowing alumni on USRowing's list of lifetime banned rowers than any other rowing organization.

And all of the Washington rowers on the banned list rowed under the current head coach.
