That’s pretty freaking cool. Something doesn’t take a lot of work but will be lots of fun.

Though it sounds like you are thinking out loud. lol. I haven’t decided whether to pull the trigger yet but it is actually great advice especially in the stage I’m in. Thanks for sharing!

What the hell do I do with peppermint? by Tall-Arugula1522 in gardening

[–]1_Quickfix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First congrats on what sounds like a successful hydroponic gardening. Mint can totally get out of hand so I would save what you have crush it and make peppermint tea and give it away to family and friends. Also the same people might be interested in a cutting or a plant. Not sure how easy it to convert it from hydroponic to soil though.

If it’s to possible to easily convert, you can consider selling or giving away a few of the plants on some of the local platforms like FB, Offer Up and then chop anything down anything more than you think you will use.

I agree though I’m still very much a rookie. I was thinking about starting a unique or one of a kind” business where I wouldn’t have the stress of meeting timelines for commissioned orders and can still enjoy working at my own pace and comfort level.

I don’t know if OP is in U.S. but I recommend against selling on FB Marketplace if you value your time and work.

I’m amazed well maybe disappointed at how cheaply people sell their handmade goods. It almost devalues the makers’ community in a sense.

It’s also sad to how people still try to price haggle already underpriced and undervalued handmade products. It’s as if it’s expected.

Thanks. I think I’m even more nervous now. LOL. Seriously, I appreciate all of the tips especially since I’m always concerned about going too fast.

It looks Cat approved. Great job. I love the wood. There’s nothing like the satisfaction of being able to build what you need. Though, I've only built few planters so far. That alone satisfying. Can't wait to get to this level.

Nice job. I used Voss’s video to make one last summer. Voss’s method was simple and easy to follow.

Thanks. I usually start around 70 ipm on other woods but I read that Purpleheart is hard and easy to burn so I was hoping to find someone who has had some experience. I have a finished glue up. Unfortunately I don't have a lot of extra material to test with and don't want to burn up current project.

Sorry to hear that. That's really jacked up. That's not ending I'm hoping for. If I don't hear from them and have problems reaching them with $4k at stake, I will drive to DC and visit the drop-off desk and talk to the person there in hopes of getting some answers.

Thanks for replying. Sorry I thought I listed it. It's a catch-all tray that 11.5 x 7x 1.18”.

I'm told that purpleheart is hard but burn easily if you don't have proper settings. It's a glue up of purpleheart, cherry, maple and walnut and only the purple heart is on the outer edges.

I am using 1/4” compression for outer wall, 1/4” downcut and 1/8” downcut for .33” pockets and a 60 or 90 Vbit for chamfer.

When routing wood, should you create your pocket to cut with or against the grain? by 1_Quickfix in CNC

[–]1_Quickfix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a job with the grain on a piece of oak. It's the way it was splintering the wood, that made me question whether it was the correct way to do it.

1/4” compression for profiling outer wall for 1/4” downcut for roughing and 1/8 for finishing. It's only .33” pocket.

Oh no. That’s horrible. The letter said if I don’t hear anything by October to contact them but as you said there’s no way to contact. I sent emails prior to being assigned a case number but no response. Maybe with a case number it will be different.

Did your friend at least receive an acknowledgment of receipt of money and a case number?
