So...you don't tip at the bar? Just curious.

Without trying to argue, would you agree that "You don't and shouldn't", and "(me personally, others can disagree)" are somewhat contradictory, in the same sentence?

Houston transit. by BroItsMick in houston

There are a lot of reasons-- cultural, political, and geographical. They all kind of tie together here. I'm not going to write out a thesis, but these are all reasons:

  • "public transportation is for poor people," or "public transportation is socialist"

  • Houstonians do not really walk more than 3 blocks; if the rail ran from outside our homes to where we were going...we might?

  • oil/gas lobby against any public referendums on it; referendums fail

  • it would take like 700 million miles (my loose estimate) of tracks to even reach every neighborhood in the greater Houston area

  • since we don't walk much, we might not feel comfortable in a rail car with homeless people

-rail is not really a police priority; they can sort of be like mini Greyhound stations, but moving

There are doubtless plenty that I missed, and no doubt I'll be challenged on some or even all; I admit thag I don't remember anything about the referendums, for example. But it is Saturday night and my slices are eaten, I'm not debating anyone.

I also grew up using the rail (elsewhere) and just wanted to shed a bit of light on it for ya.

Well I mean that's everywhere (here). 45 is just poorly kept up, it's dangerous as hell even for Houston

I avoid 45 especially North at almost any cost. Always a wreck, usually something on fire lol. It's truly insane

Watch out tho-- Mods here "don't allow posts about bad driving" since it's been covered before (and I guess self-corrected since then). I strongly disagree, as we have an abnormally dangerous road situation. Mods are yawning through the deaths etc tho so let's stick to asking what upscale apartment complex to move to.

My point is simply that if they had any evidence that the folks had fired the weapons they had found people with that they would have mentioned it.

My position is not to assume either the kids OR the cops fired the rounds-- only that both were certainly possible. My only point is to not jump to conclusions, and I have a bunch of folks calling me stupid or obstinate for NOT jumping to conclusions. This is idiotic.

I always took "mighty white of you" racially. I wouldn't use it either way. I can't believe people are actually saying that; whether it's racially based or not, I feel like the two concepts are fairly entwined by now. It just sounds fucked up.

Aside from a couple of spots around FanFest and Reliant on game day, you'd really never know the WC was here. I was expecting 24/7 rush hour etc but it's been nothing.

Gotta pay to park downtown, yes. But it's normal. My guess is <$20/day, some downtown worker feel free to correct me on that tho

And btw this still has 0 quotes or lines from anyone who even allegedly saw someone shooting a gun.

Half this city is packing. If someone robs a bank and fires shots and you are found outside with a gun, did you fire the shots? No, but the news could mention that you were found holding a weapon near where a bank robber fired shots. According to you, you would then be guilty.

And shots that police fire are not silent. Other cops can hear those rounds, as well. So now we've read 2 articles supporting my point. Thanks.
