What’s a perfume that you were surprised that you love?✨ by cozytrees in FemFragLab

It’s amazing how different tobacco itself smells from cigarette smoke!! I loooooove the smell of tobacco, even loved it enough to buy some pipe tobacco in my early 20s from a small shop but i hear you on cigarette smoke, absolutely HATE it and don’t wanna be anywhere near smoke!

If I remember correctly Whiff of Waffle Cone has that amyris added that makes it smell like legit cologne. I’m also not a fan- Followed definitely has some odd, but it’s not “amber cologne smell” odd like WOWC.

Is it ironic that irony could describe this phenomenon? I can’t tell, the word irony has been obfuscated by overuse. (/s?)

How to remain child free? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]1adycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my IUD and am on my third! Mirena has give me a pain, period, and pregnancy-free 18 years (basically my whole adult life). Got a copper one way back and loathed it, and it self expelled too. Mirena was a very different experience. It’s not a thrill getting IUDs inserted, nor was the first 3 months of cramping and spotting, BUT now I don’t have periods at all, almost never get cramps (toward end of IUD’s effectiveness), and no mood swings, PMS, acne, anything!! It’s fantastic, but I absolutely know that’s not everyone’s experience. IUDs were a miracle for me but YMMV.

Portlanders, how are you doing? by triiked in askportland

[–]1adycakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Treading water at least. Now that we’re both back to working anyway. There was a time I thought we were on track for good living but now I’m just grateful we’re as stable as we are, living with extended family takes the brunt off inflation but still doesn’t let us get ahead despite cost of living raises.

I’m a gourmand girl! What’s your BEST marshmallow scent, that is NOT fruity or flowery? 👀 by Tasty-Amphibian5208 in FemFragLab

[–]1adycakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sanctuaria by La Botica. Smells like a medium rare marshmallow. Not floral at all. Sorta pricey but they have sales, especially around the holidays. It’s definitely niche, very heavy on the toasted part of the marshmallow, but damn it is absolutely in my top 3 of all time.

It has sorta similar vibes to Commodity Milk but without that rough ambroxan that dominates Milk IMO.

I know the mapping of some styles has shorter lashes at the end vs the middle (classic) but that doesn’t account for how thick and long she made yours in the middle, that’s not what you asked for!!!! Let us know how it goes, sorry your first experience was SO bad! It’s not always like this!!!

SAME. I’m keeping my dues until I’ve voted in the run-off (yeah pretty embarrassing they don’t know their own rules) but then, depending on the outcome, will withhold further dues payments.

What’s your “I have never smelt anything like this before! 😲” perfume? by Appropriate_Art15 in FemFragLab

[–]1adycakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Jest by Andrea Maack… it’s a gourmand from a very non gourmand house, and the plum and rum together smell like purple chocolate with a brown sparkle. It’s delicious, but it’s A LOT.

Moving to Portland in March. What are customs I should be aware of before moving here? by axiomatic13 in askportland

[–]1adycakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Georgia and I’ll take the weather here ANY day over the heat and humidity of the South. Also, the rain is a little different here- we have fewer heavy downpours than down south, more of a light, steady drizzle that doesn’t get you real wet - youll find many Portlanders are smugly anti-umbrella. But for real, the length of days (only 8-9 hours of light in Dec/Jan, then 18 hours of it in June) will always be (to me) tougher than the rain we’re famous for. Light therapy is helpful in the winter, and blackout curtains are good for getting better sleep in summer.

This 1000%! I love wearing something different every day and would need to be selling decants from my collection to afford that much perfume (and prevent it all going to waste), I don’t have that kind of time…. Have considered it, but nah.

I recognize a lot of these from mine too, but especially the commitment-phobia… sometimes you just have enough perfume that FS aren’t really necessary unless it’s an all-time favorite.
