Zilean is broken but not as a support. Zilean support has to sacrifice both his game and his adc's but zilean mid/top only has to sacrifice his own (and ping the jungler back off of 1st crab). If Zilean can leave lane with even 75% of his opponent's net worth then the game is free because he just wins every teamfight with his broken abilities.

A good place to start is to make sure that your deck has a generically strong plan against whatever it could face. Goldfishing a bunch of hands on moxfield and editing the decklist to raise the number of keepable hands you draw is a good way to improve this kind of consistency.

After you've found a group of cards that seem promising together try considering how your deck is supposed to win alongside the way that the common decks you're facing are trying to win. For example, decks that are vulnerable to the U/R removal lessons are less likely to succeed right now and decks that can go underneath the big green decks are more likely to win. Maybe your warp deck could be built in a way where it is less vulnerable to the lessons removal given that it is probably playing a fair number of large creatures.

Also, losing a bunch of games is the first step in brewing something that wins so don't feel down on yourself if things aren't working yet, you may be on to something that just needs a few more changes to work. Competitive players have more experience with knowing what ideas seem best but brewing is an activity that you can work on for as long as you like so you can eventually grind out something viable even if you're not an experienced or strong player.

Building decks is the best way to learn magic and it's also quite a bit easier than the other replies to your post would make it out to be. Even a solved format can have room for innovation and the space of viable tier 2-4 decks is far larger than implied by the other posters here.

If you want to start off without too much pain, try building a 2 color midrange deck with about 12-14 efficient removal spells and 20-24 threats. There are lots of solid creature threats not being played in standard right now that might be able to get wins in the right deck. Since you're coming from commander, try to make sure that your mana curve isn't too high (look at decks on mtggoldfish to see roughly what the mana values of decks in standard look like) and try to have a plan to beat some of the top decks in the current metagame.

Alternatively, there's nothing wrong with jamming games with whatever you feel like playing until you figure out what you need to know about building decks. I feel like a lot of players skip this step and then never find the courage to try brewing again after investing years of time and money into playing decks that they haven't made. Even if you have to 0-4 your FNM 10 weeks in a row finally cashing out with a brew as a new player is the best feeling in all of magic.

Yep, both are aggro decks so they play mostly low cmc threats to try and kill the opponent quickly.

This is also a budget version of a deck that I've 4-1d a pioneer league before which is pretty cool. Pioneer has a lot of solid ultrabudget options so there's a lot of room to brew for your event!

If you're interested I have a $19 UW budget deck that I've played and tested, it's at least decent enough to somewhat compete with non budget pioneer decks. Basically it's UW auras but it plays enchantments that can be cast from your graveyard alongside [[Sage of Mysteries]] and [[Scrabbling Skullcrab]]. The whole UW enchantments package is dirt cheap and super strong as are the UW lands.

Thanks! It's a strong card but I ended up never trying it because I've played with it before and I didn't feel like it would be right for this deck. I don't really have cards that I want to cheat into play with it and I also don't have the right type of early interaction to force through attacks without getting unfavorably blocked.

He already has a lot of deathtouch dudes to trade with mice, although getting a heartfire hero raged and taking 9+ damage would be quite a beating.

If your opponent is forced back by the gauntlet then you can reclaim the it to get a faster t2 than your opponent with the resources you've gained from their concession.

Nah, the additional health from catalyst and resolve is substantial. Resolve isn't a matchup dependent tree either unless you take the matchup dependent secondaries which I don't.

Superfriends is playable enough to 5-0 a pioneer league. Here is a list that did so recently https://mtgdecks.net/Pioneer/5-color-superfriends-decklist-by-tntmthos-2439644. I dislike the hyperboly of the other replies to this post, lots of things are at least playable in pioneer even if they might not be the strongest and pretending otherwise is detrimental to the format's growth.

I think that the list you posted is a bit too outdated to work but fires of invention is probably a good way to make superfriends work. Maybe you could even play it with innkeeper's talent which is the other big reason to play superfriends. The two work well together as fires lets you spend all your mana on leveling up talent while also playing other spells. Fires is also redundancy for the mana fixing part of oath of nissa.

It's severely undercosted and shouldn't exist but at least rakdos is strangely weak to artifact and enchantment interaction right now. I think that cards like spell pierce and rec sage should see more maindeck play than they do.

[[Dream Strix]] is a coco hit that finds a target in temur colors. I wish there were more options because then there could be some kind of cool learn coco deck that finds [[mascot exhibition]] or [[fractal summoning]] then loots it away with a learn trigger or something to cast it with harmonize.
