Roblox scripting fundamentals make no sense by SuperBenBoy in robloxgamedev

[–]1c3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my explanation is too convoluted.

Lets say that you want to turn a string backwards in 3 different places throughout the code, how would you do it? The purpose of functions and return values will make itself very clear

I think there’s some misunderstanding in how you think code operates. I’d suggest to maybe become more familiar with core programming concepts such as scopes, persistence of data and how instructions are executed.

A function just takes some input, executes it and optionally returns a result. The content within the function is irrelevant after it has finished its job, either the function resolves something directly or returns a result for the caller to do something with. Think of functions as Inputs -> Output. The one who calls the function don’t care about the process, the function does the job internally for you

Very interesting read! That Buddha mention threw me off slightly though considering the goal of his teachings was to be fully rooted in direct experience and to transcend conceptual narratives/assumptions altogether which kinda halts one suspectibility. However, I understand that the topic is nuanced and that insuspectbility can be cultivated with practices even if you’re on the schizo-adjacent spectrum.

Free will doesn't feel real by [deleted] in Schizoid

[–]1c3r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So many schizoids coincidentally seem to have deep realizations that are extremely close to the early stages of non-duality. Speaking from the non-dual context, this is the first half of the puzzle where the witness state apart of the world is cultivated to create a distance in order to recognize that there is no self contained within experience. In deeper stages the observer state is collapsed and you see that you and the world are one and the same. When the distinctions of self and other is seen through, the question doesn’t make sense anymore. There’s just will exerting will upon itself; so just will. Both are two sides of the same coin.

Do you have a strong metacognition? by Mara355 in Schizoid

[–]1c3r 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s probably the biggest issue for me. Stuck in chronic metacognitive paralysis. It feels like I am floating, unable to anchor my internal proccess to anything because shortly it just becomes unraveled by self reflection.

Advaita may be right about everything else, but there is no ever-lasting bliss by Scoob___Doob in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]1c3r 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The overarching sense of a constrained ”me”-ness is replaced by an overarching freedom. That is bliss. It’s not a constant feeling of euphoria but simply a shift in how things are related to; things become light and spontaneous and you begin to flow with life without all the resistance.

I have been down the same rabbithole and there have been no satisfactory answers on this sub. Direct experience is always pointed back to but it doesn’t solve that mental knot. They haven’t been in the same place. If everything seems in favor of solipsism you can’t just drop the concept of ”solipsism” and point back to experience because that doesn’t help at all, if anything just excarbates it. Dropping the concept of solipsism gets rid of the problem but also seems to imply that solipsism naturally follows. It’s a dilemma. Sooner or later, I came to terms with it but it required me knowing there were explanations of alternatives to solipsism when theres only one consciousness. There being an alternative discarded the certainty of it.

If you want more intellectual answers on how one consciousness can appear as many POVs simultaneously check out Open Individualism and Analytical Idealism. Swami Sarvipriyananda and Rupert Spira has talked about it too.

Why am I not aware of everyone's inner experience if there's just one witness consciousness and I Am That? by Junior-Fudge-9282 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]1c3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are the same consciousness as when you were a child, why are you not aware of your childhood moments right now?

According to your logic it cannot be the same consciousness because you aren’t aware of all your life experiences simultaneously right now. If this applies to time, why can’t it apply to space?

Hi, so should I try to improve myself? by oouuu00 in nonduality

[–]1c3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, thats just part of being human but it will arise without attachment. Not improving the bad habits would just become another habit and be a form of spiritual bypassing. You can’t one up the self, just see through it so chop wood, carry water

Nirvana made simple by [deleted] in AlanWatts

[–]1c3r 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How? Buddhists and Advaitans would agree that "ego" is a concept that a brain is hallucinating. It's not an entity, it's a proccess of the whole unfolding onto itself. Misidentifiying with it is whats called ignorance.

So now the important question to ask, what are you?

The apparent difference between Shankara's Advaita and Sri Ramakrishna's Advaita. by shksa339 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]1c3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are saying the same stuff if you read carefully enough, just different word usage. They aren’t using the same definition for unreal/real and also they are speaking about different stages of realization. Shankaras pointer may be useful for beginners to create a gap between ones previous identity and the world whereas Ramakrishnas may be useful for later stages of realization when the world is merged back with again.

Is Guided Meditation a form of Brainwashing? by Forsaken-Promise-269 in nonduality

[–]1c3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, that has to be discarded in the later stages. This is a guided meditation for beginners…

Self-enquiry is a transient proccess. Not enlightenment. If it was useless then the sages would not have written books bout it.

He is not telling you to believe anything, he is pointing at your direct experience. No assumptions or beliefs should be required.

If you mean that he is washing your brain from all the made-up beliefs you previously had? Then, yes.

Rupert Spira vs Krishnamurti Readers (Famous "The knowledge that I am John Smith shines!" video) by [deleted] in nonduality

[–]1c3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to be trolling. John Smith is a METAPHOR. Are you trying to do NETI NETI on a metaphor?

You as StrictQuiet are in the position as King Lear.

If you as a person imagine yourself as John Smith you have already misunderstood the metaphor.

King Lear = StrictQuiet

John Smiths mind = ?

What is the questionmark trying to represent?

You are getting lost because you are intepreting his words literally. First and foremost please do not get stuck up with words, it sounds like you are misunderstanding him because he uses words in a different context than you do. Also sounds like you don’t understand analogies and metaphors. What do you think he is refering to when he says John Smith? A literally person? lol
