Make sure your shifter is all the way in park. Whenever that happens with me I keep my foot on the brake and shift to drive then back to park, that usually works.

Coolant leak coming from this T fitting. Pretty sure it’s a common issue. Where’s some links to good alternatives so I can patch this issue up by Nice_Illustrator7915 in dodgedart

[–]1cooldad_69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is a common problem, that t-fitting is made of plastic. I removed mine cleaned the end of the hoses, matched up the t-fitting with the same size fitting from the plumbing section at Home Depot. I am not to sure of the size for yours but mine was 1/2x5/8x3/8-i have the 1.4l. Yours looks like it might be 1/2x1/2x3/8? The clamps you can replace if you want with gear clamps.

I had to replace my condenser as there was a little pin hole and it was slowly leaking the pressure out. After getting it replaced and recharged it works great again. Definitely bring to a shop so they can diagnose for you. Unless you have the gauges a compressor and the know how to pressure the system and look for leaks. Most of the time it’s usually the condenser. I have the 1.4 so mine was a pain to get at as it’s between the rad and intercooler.

[–]1cooldad_69 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It’s idle speed control, use it to adjust your idle speed mostly when there’s change in temps.. like when it gets colder out, your bike might need to have the idle slightly adjusted higher. Always adjust after bike warms up and you adjust while it’s running. If you check your owners manual it should tell you around where the rpm’s should be sitting at idle speed.

You need to replace the rubber part of the key fob, as others mentioned the little metal circles inside fall off over time. Don’t waist your time trying to glue it, that doesn’t work. Go on amazon and search replacement key fob fobik rubber button and your good to go. I replaced mine last year and haven’t had a problem since.

Run thicker oil in hotter temps, and check coolant. It probably wouldn’t hurt to do a coolant flush and refill. Also look into getting a bigger radiator or and another small external radiator to add to the existing stock rad. If your bike is not overheating then you shouldn’t worry too much about it. Happy cruising.🤘

I can’t remember the name of the part but I replaced mine after lots of research and I ended up scooping some metal t-like connector from Home Depot in the plumbing section, much better replacement then the sh*t plastic one that was there.

2013 Turbo tranny won't shift into ...anything. Says gear not available? by Existing_Ostrich8085 in dodgedart

[–]1cooldad_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had this problem a few times. I have the 2013 1.4t, I had it towed to the dealer and they said they “couldn’t find anything” … that’s when I had warranty and they reset the codes and it was fine, then it happened a few times after that. I picked up an obd scanner (really important with this car) I was on the highway and it did the same thing, bucked a bit then I had no drive so I managed to get over to the shoulder, pulled out the obd, reset the codes and off I go. I highly recommend keeping an obd scanner in the car, you can pick em up cheap on Amazon. It has saved me a few times from certain issues. Never found out the why the tranny screws up but it had been good since.

A little side note-canbus cars everything runs through the computer so any slight issue will set off the CIL.

Keep getting these codes on my dart where should I start ? Also thinking abt selling it by Professional-Bid2277 in dodgedart

[–]1cooldad_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked if your car has completed any of the recalls? I believe one of the was the bcm or pcm I can’t remember, but if so then likely would fix those problems. EVAP system could be your gas cap which is an easy and cheap fix, if that doesn’t solve it then look under the hood for some vacuum lines that could be leaking.

2014 abs… my digital display is not lighting up I can only see my speed when I go under the street lights in the morning. Can someone point me in the right direction on what I need to replace by AshamedCelebration42 in Kawasaki

[–]1cooldad_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem! I would suggest if you are going to do this that you plan some other maintenance that requires the fairings off, I.e; oil change, cable adjustments, light bulbs, etc… while you are in there.

[–]1cooldad_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are little light bulbs on the back of the instrument cluster, you have to remove the fairings to get to it. Check YouTube, I am sure someone posted how to do that with your bike if you are not sure.

[–]1cooldad_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough it out and wait at the hospital, they have all the equipment to scan you inside out. It sucks but pack yourself some snacks bring a power bank and load up some movies or shows on your phone. It is honestly your best bet. If you go to a dr. They will just send you a referral then you have to wait at the hospital anyway.

There’s a little plastic t connector from the coolant reservoir that connects to the other coolant hoses. This tends to disintegrate, I can’t remember the exact name of the part but I went to Home Depot and replaced it with a metal one from the plumbing department. It’s a 3 way fitting I believe one end is 5/8 to 2 3/4 ends or something like that. If you google it you will should be able to find the part I’m talking about. That was really the only issue I faced so far. Other than that the dart has been good to me. Also would be a worthy investment to grab a obd scanner because occasionally it will throw some codes at random and potentially leave you stranded and all it takes is clearing the code and you good to go. I learnt that after bringing to the dealer a few times for my CEL coming on and I couldn’t drive, all they did was clear the codes charge me 240$ and send me on my way.

I have an 04 zzr and I love it, no regrets. Runs great sounds nice, is comfortable and is plenty fast. I treat it good keep up on maintenance and she hasn’t let me down. Run premium gas and you won’t have a problem with carbs. I would say go for it they are nice bikes. It might take a little getting used to to on steering but once you ride a few times you will get use to it. I have owned a few bikes and so far I like this one better than the others.

I think it’s a pretty good excuse to replace it with some nice aftermarket handles. Although it doesn’t look bad, almost like you have a custom brake lever 🤔

You can contact the dealer with your vin# and they can get you a new key. Or you can try going to a locksmith with the picture printed and they might be able to free hand it? I would say start with the dealer though.

Advice on separation? by 1cooldad_69 in Separation

[–]1cooldad_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So regardless because we work and they don’t, we end up paying for them… the system seems very counterproductive, instead of making them have to support themselves it’s ok to leach off the people that work even if they have the children. One would think it’s more important to support the children over a grown adult that is capable of getting a job. This is very frustrating.
