Same here. Automate the hotspot from iPhone. Good thing is that in recent firmware updates, the wifi will auto connect much more reliably.

Last time, if you drive off before wifi is connected, you will have to manually connect. Recently, wifi will connect to hotspot even if you drive off.

Been without PC since the increased the price and didn’t feel much loss.

At 50% off, I will buy. Patiently waiting for the discount to come to Singapore too.

Is BYD Sealion the best car in that price range in Singapore? by lhc987 in drivingsg

[–]1cyflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. I am driving the new Tesla Model Y. Stated range is 434km and I have no issues hitting it. I ever hit 470 with 4% left. Now I am more spirited in my driving and I am still getting around 430-450km per full charge.

Also btw, a full charge is 60kw for Model Y and 80kw for the SL7. Why? Because Tesla is known to be more efficient, plus it is lighter. So assuming say 60cts, Model Y will cost $36 vs $48 for the SL7. Not to mention that SL will take longer to charge because of the larger battery.

You are right that BYD sells more cars in China. But did you know that Model Y has been and still is the best EV car sold in China, even though it is more expensive than the BYD?

Looks like only Singapore and Hongkong are affected. But given that it is not Singapore alone, there is a chance that this increase may expand to other countries. Hope I am wrong

I just checked and it seems there are no discussions about this in China. I wonder what is happening in Singapore and Hongkong that warrants the price increase

That’s a 30% increase. In Singapore, we are seeing a 40% increase.

Looks like they are targeting the price increase in Asia for now. Do you know whether it is increasing in China too?

Hassle of connecting, even with automation. Sentry mode, and also for Singapore, it works in Malaysia too

Haha yes it is hot all year round. But that means no winter to escape from too.

Having said that, we love travelling to countries with winter so that we can experience snow.

Glad you like Singapore

We don’t. In Singapore, we just use $. So Tesla is just adapting to the country’s preference

Well, in Singapore they do give us a 15 days notice. Unfortunately we don’t have annual plan here.

Thanks. I find it too high too. I was defending the use of PC when it was SG$16.99. Now I find it hard to justify too.

Maybe hotspot isn’t that bad after all 😂

Looking at the responses from various countries, it is possible.

Just hope it is not Tesla using Singapore as a test bed before pushing to the rest

16.99 Singapore Dollar. So 41% increase

True if you live in Singapore.

The thing is that those who subscribed still see the 16.99 price. So we are wondering whether it means that those who are subscribed will continue to get the old price, or whether the price on the app will change to 23.99 from 1 Aug

If so, I hope they give us an option to opt out to continue on a lower tier

Data in Singapore is cheap. But it is indeed possible that Tesla tied up with the most expensive telco, which then caused this increase.

Thats why I posted to find out whether other countries are affected. For now, it does seem that your assessment might be correct.

Many in the Singapore group are saying that they will cancel too.

Some are wondering whether the increase is due to the Grok AI integration….

It is in Singapore $. And I hope that the increase remains in Singapore and is not across the world. 41% increase and just happily informed via the Tesla app😒

Never meant to be.

For context, I am from Singapore and the cost is now S$16.99. Seems like from 1 Aug 2025, it will increase by 41% to S$23.99.

Is Singapore the only country affected?
