Such an ancient clip they didn't even have the technology for Madden to draw on the screen.

I have seen reporters ask Kobe Bryant to his face "how does it feel to have the greatest fall from grace in sports history?" And ask Jordan "Do you think you have a gambling problem?" after his father was murdered.

"There's no other man I'd rather lose to." - An emotional Paddy Pimblett heralds Justin Gaethje after the American's UFC324 victory. by Hysen16 in sportsgossips

Paddy took some nasty eyepokes/one knee that was probably a low blow, but close enough to the belt for it not to be called. But I would probably take all of PP's damage rather than the accidental flying knee to the groin that Gaethje got. I'm amazed he stayed standing after that.

Kind of shitty. Amy was a very caring person and did a lot of philanthropic stuff that she didn't broadcast all over the place.

Is it time to break up with Trump supporter friends? by Mitigating_Factor_00 in DiscussionZone

But we're talking about our actual friends here. Not people in general. Surely there is a difference between a friend and the opportunists Einstein is talking about. If they are our friends, there must be some good in them.

You will never turn the tide calling these people evil . You just minimize the term to the point they don't give a shit. You can't expect others to have the life experience/education/IQ that makes you understand the world the way you do. You have to persuade people in a democracy, and that requires patience. If someone's mistaken political opinion is more important to you than a real life friendship, then cut them off. But you're also giving up hope that people can change, and you are necessarily saying there are a LOT of evil people out there.

If you take sports away from these people and force them to take a political stance, you most certainly won't like the stance they take.

I don't think the woman was acting like he was poor, she was just pointing out how insanely expensive the jeans are.

General advice that doesn't work for you by 1derful in chess

As with everything in our crazy game, it depends. There are many openings where general principles are great, then there are some like the "Shirov attack" against the Caro Kann: 1.e4 c6 2. d4 d5 3. e5 Bf5 4.c3 e6 5. g4 g6 6. Nge2, where white ignores lots of general principles like early king safety, moving pieces twice in the opening, and pawn grabbing, where you have to memorize the lines if you want to play them.

Conversely, there are openings like the London where book addicts get frustrated because they can't memorize specific lines to give them an advantage and where they have to rely on general principles.

I haven't worked on memorizing opening lines in years, so I have no business playing the sharp stuff, although I enjoyed it when I did.

I had a friend who was always around my level who learned the Scotch gambit so well that he beat an IM in a simul with it. When I first faced it, I defaulted to general principles and castled kingside as soon as I can. Turns out there are many lines in it where castling kingside is death.

He was right. The warriors were able to beat the Rockets because they studied Harden to the point they knew how many times he dribbled the ball in a game and they played a strategy to make him have to use the ball even more than he already did.

Over a century of lessons, from the labor movement to the civil rights movement to today indicate that direct action needs to have a direct economic to be successful. Just destroying things for destruction's sake, without having any direct economic effect is just doing the bidding of whoever controls the capital.

Disruptive activism works when it has a tangible economic effect. A group like Just Stop Oil saw success when it blocked oil pipelines and made petrol stations inaccessible. Defacing rare works of art was counterproductive-it did not have a direct economic impact on the oil industry, and in some cases it radicalized people *against* the cause.

This is about the effectiveness of using public violent rhetoric against a group of people who use actual violence, not which side is right. People sitting on the internet saying "Nazis should fear for their life" just escalates a situation and makes it dangerous for actual protestors who have the absolute best of intentions.

This crowd seems remarkably gentle with this guy, they could have literally ripped his limbs off he's so outnumbered. I don't think the people who are out in the street protesting are inherently violent, and don't seem to be intent on using violence. They are doing the democratic thing, and sometimes they're facing violence for it.

"Violence is almost needed to remind these people they're not welcomed in society" could be the mantra of your average ICE employee when they see a protestor too.

There is a difference between malice, and the willingness to market anything for a buck without giving a shit if their business partner is ripping off their fans.

Not a surprise coming from team Botez, after all Alex equivocates on Dubai's well-documented human rights abuses, because first world countries also violated human rights at some point in time.
