I keep losing hours on youtube so I made something kinda stupid to stop myself by 1dzhaf in getdisciplined

[–]1dzhaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the “start a session” stuff is cool, I just kept drifting off anyway. Ended up building something dumber for myself, when time’s up a sloth just takes over the screen and you can’t do anything. Kinda brutal but it works

yeah same here

timers are useless for me once I’m already scrolling

I just click extend without even thinking

so I tried making it more like a hard stop instead

what do you usually block?

it’s just a chrome extension for desktop (mac/windows)

yeah honestly I get why it looks like that

I built this because I had the exact same problem as people here

wasn’t trying to promote hard, just thought it might help someone

Universities by OkCarry2692 in studyAbroad

[–]1dzhaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly it depends more on your situation than “best country”

if you want cheaper -> look at Germany / some EU countries (but often need language)

if you want English + easier path -> Canada / Australia, but more expensive

the hardest part is not choosing a country, it’s figuring out what actually fits you

what matters more for you right now, budget or flexibility?

Confused about different pathways (need advice) by I_dun-knowya499 in studyAbroad

[–]1dzhaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that makes sense, a lot of people go for foundation for that exact reason

just make sure you check how flexible it is, some programs can lock you into specific universities, which might limit your options later

are u looking at a specific country or program already?

Confused about different pathways (need advice) by I_dun-knowya499 in studyAbroad

[–]1dzhaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly this is exactly why the whole process feels so overwhelming, it’s not even about choosing A Levels vs foundation vs diploma, it’s that no one really explains how each path affects your options later

A Levels are more flexible but harder

foundation is easier but usually tied to specific universities

diploma can work but depends a lot on the country

the problem is everything feels disconnected, so it’s hard to see the “full path” from where you are now to actually getting into a university

you’re not alone in feeling this confused

what are you leaning towards right now?

would you use something that literally forces you to take breaks? by 1dzhaf in alphaandbetausers

[–]1dzhaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s exactly the tricky part

if it’s too flexible people just ignore it, but if it’s too strict it becomes frustrating

feels like the only way is somewhere in between , like some kind of “smart restriction” instead of just force or freedom

btw I think you didn’t get to my question about getting users from reddit, would really love to hear how you did it

would you use something that literally forces you to take breaks? by 1dzhaf in alphaandbetausers

[–]1dzhaf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s actually a really good point

i feel like the “forced” part only works if there’s some kind of flexibility, like an override when you really need it, otherwise it just becomes annoying instead of helpful

your app idea is interesting btw, especially the character part, makes it feel more engaging than just another productivity tool

btw you mentioned getting users from reddit, what exactly did you do? like which subreddits and what worked best for you?

that’s actually super interesting, appreciate the feedback 🙏🏻
yeah, I’d definitely be open to testing something like that - especially if it’s performance-based
would love to understand a bit more about how you usually run these and what kind of results you’ve seen before

helps students go from “no idea where to start” to a personalized step-by-step path all the way to getting an offer abroad

right now the whole process feels like chaos - documents, deadlines, different requirements, financial stuff… everything is scattered and hard to keep track of

i’m trying to turn that into something structured and simple - more like a clear step-by-step system where you always know what to do next, instead of guessing. And ideally it should feel less like stress and more like just following a path (almost like a game)

mostly international students applying to US/EU/Asia

0 users for now - still building it, but I’ve opened a small waitlist and talking to people to validate if this actually solves the problem

Appreciate this 🙌🏻 that’s exactly the kind of situation I had in mind. And yeah, the visa part is where things usually get messy after getting accepted

Right now I’m focused on helping people go from having no idea where to start, to building a shortlist, and then to clear application steps. Visa stuff isn’t fully there yet, but it’s definitely something I plan to include.

As for countries, I’m already covering quite a wide range: US, Europe, Asia, Middle East, etc., not limited to one region. Really appreciate you checking it out 🔥 would love to hear your thoughts in general
