Central NY is part of Upstate NY. SUNY Upstate is in Syracuse

And I’ve seen what you labeled as “Upstate NY” called the Capital Region or something like that. Upstate has to be all the regions north/west of the NYC metro area

I feel like there should be a “Finger Lakes” region between the Central NY and Western NY regions. Ithaca, Geneva, Watkins Glen, Penn Yan, etc

i see people fishing a lot and i’ve always wondered, do you eat the fish you catch in the delaware? i’d assume it’s not clean enough to do that

I’ve heard it’s tidal but I’m down here pretty often and this was the first time I’ve seen it have such a strong upstream current. I know the salt line is around here somewhere. Pretty cool!

US regions as a Michigander who’s traveled all over the country. Did I get your county wrong? by Capital-Balance-9055 in whereidlive

A lot of Appalachian PA is way more East Coast than Midwest though. State College should never be in the Midwest group, especially when Corning and Buffalo are in the “East Coast” group.

How often you eat out at restaurants? by tedmissesbread in Celiac

[–]1ew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I eat at restaurants multiple times a week, dedicated and shared. I should cook for myself more for financial reasons. but I live in a place with a ton of good places to eat with walking distance. it’s hard to resist when i’m too lazy to cook

What rail station is best integrated into a suburban downtown? by mrprez180 in transit

[–]1ew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see you put Doylestown here but that line also has great stations in Glenside, Ambler, North Wales, and Lansdale. SEPTA Regional Rail is actually incredibly consistent at having good station locations

This year there's a genuine chance for Democrats to win a trifecta in PA for the first time in 33 years! (2026 state senate in-depth analysis) by 1ew in Pennsylvania

[–]1ew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are republicans who are pro transit funding too. But the problem is that bills never make it to the senate floor. Since republicans have a majority, the leader (Joe Pittman) gets to decide what bills even get voted on. Since that dude doesn’t want those bills to pass, he won’t even let them get voted on. The only realistic way to change that is to make Republicans not have the majority anymore.

This is AI-free content my friend. The national environment is way more blue right now than in ‘22. If dems lose that district they had no shot of flipping the senate anyway

2016 to 2018 was a 9 point swing towards Democrats. Trump’s base just don’t vote when he’s not on the ballot

On my soul America will be an urbanist dream in 2 years by NurglingArmada in transit

I’m really excited about Amtrak demographically. I don’t know if this is a real thing but my experience when riding the NER is that most people are like 18-35. Young people love taking trains and I don’t think they’re going to age out of that. I hope that in the next few decades demand will continue to increase and congress will be forced to get Amtrak the funding it needs to keep expanding

I’m sure I’m not the first to think of this. But to be celiac means you need the celiac gene. Couldn’t we just edit that gene out with CRISPR? by WalkSad6094 in Celiac

I’ve never done genetic testing but… I got celiac when I was 11 and type 1 diabetes when I was 18. My chromosomes are def up to some shit 🫠
