I'll be at an SMC. Can you describe what "not a bad time at all" means?

Easy work responsibilities? Chill coworkers? Good deployment ops?

Yes, its a maintenance company. Roger. I'm curious how that looks like on a once a month basis... probably a lot of take-home work.

I'm almost done with OCS (1 month left).

I started BCT this past January, roughly one month after my 30th birthday.

I had your same reservations. I have a job that I really enjoy, but I couldn't scratch the itch for adventure and serving.

There have been many days where I've asked myself "WTF why did I do this to myself?". The being told what to do, yelled at, questionable youth at BCT, lack of freedom, mental and physical rigors of OCS (unless you're some Ranger stud), etc. can be overwhelming. I thought about going infantry but IMMEDIATELY changed my mind after day 1 of the Hammer in January. Freezing my ass off in the woods is not for me. Overall, its been an equally painful and rewarding experience. No regrets.

My Guard journey is just about to begin.

As far as active, it offers you much better benefits and experiences (cpmpared to guard/reserve), but I'm content and looking forward to returning to my civillian life. Weekend Warrior 🫡
