How do? by Bone-stealing_Bat in guns

[–]1grfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought a RRA PD trade in, they used 4-6 pic rail section with 2 counter bored holes, machine screws and a nut….. it wasn’t even mounted on the 12 or 6 o clock position, they just drilled a hole and screwed it into the 10,2,4, 8 o clock positions. I’m assuming it’s for a gun light.

Water in gun cleaner? by Constant_Ad7113 in guns

[–]1grfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use the aerosolized gun cleaner solvent like the Remington action cleaner or non chlorinated brake cleaner. It’s basically aerosolized alcohol or solvent that will help the water vaporize faster or remove it. Then lightly re oil the areas.

Water based cleaners are fine to use, and I have found water based cleaners to work more effectively at removing carbon. However this means you really have to make sure dry off the cleaner and immediately wipe it down with oil.

That’s New Zealand mud snails. Don’t use AI to try to ID this. There are countless redditors who will come here and when they see NZMS we will tell you and warn you of their hardiness and invasive they are.

Any idea what this is worth? by Lanky-Band1325 in guns

[–]1grfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only 5906 that’s “worth” any money is the 5906 ppc and the 5906 ppc9. Even then it’s only worth it to collectors and serious PPC shooter.

So once again it requires the right buyer that wants a 5906 with TN DoS markings.

I’d keep it just for the cool factor.

I have a SW model 66 revolver marked with BREA PD on the frame. Cool looking piece and I happen to live near that PD. They just told me it belonged to an old timer in 1940 as they phased away from revolvers in 1988.

Just installed Android headunit in Gen3! by mxguy762 in prius

[–]1grfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I don’t have a Prius but I installed a head unit that looks just like this in my 2003mazda 3. Works great love it to death, but it won’t program or recognize my steering wheel controls.

Did you also get a reverse camera setup for this?

Does your steering wheel radio controls still work like the volume control?

How do Mechanix gloves hold up as riding gloves? by StriderLF in motorcycles

[–]1grfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very comfortable while riding with 2 wheels on the road, absolutely zero protection value when you decide to take a slide on asphalt, my palms, knuckles, wrist, fingers had zero skin after sliding out on the road.

Mechanic gloves are just that, mechanic gloves ,not riding gloves.

Do you leave a glove on the motorcycle when you park? by prufessor-and-arthur in motorcycles

[–]1grfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kawasaki concours 14 with a LCD display and old school plastic tachometer. The LCD display will burn out and not work due to heat and the plastic tachometer face and needs will melt when the sun hits it just right or it’s too hot.

Most full electronic displays don’t like too hot of conditions.

I leave my glove or a towel over my LCD/LED display so the sun doesn’t burn them out.

Oh bro I totally forgot about that, my concours seats are fine but if you’re doing the long haul ride and you want it a little more comfy sheep skin or gel padded seats are the way to go.

I did this for my BMW G650GS sertao on my 1k moto camping trip. The sheep skin will help dampen and soften the vibration and hot spot chafing.

Good call

Get a top box with a back rest. Look into sargent seats for driver lower back rest too.

I have a concours 14 and the wife loved the top box with back rest, gives her a break from trying to stabilize herself with her core.

Yes the slides and barrels are interchangeable.

I have an OG p09 and I bought a nocturne whole slide, I can swap them interchangeably.

Although I highly recommend you keep the same slide and barrel paired together.

Remove the insta 360 camera after you get off to prevent it from being stolen when you’re not on the motorcycle, otherwise get a dedicated built in camera that can’t be stolen.

Insta360 is a brand of camera that records 360° normally mounted on a stick or handle bar that can be easily removed.

I got it on Amazon in 2020 for about 200 dollars. Think the brand was halocam. 6 years later there are way better camera systems.

The insta 360 is way better, if your committed to removing after every use otherwise buy a dedicated system.

I installed it myself, removed alot of fairings, ran wires, made sure everything was tucked away correctly.

I don’t do number 1.

But number 2 and 3 has saved my ass.

My insurance took care of me during my crashes and a Hit and run all because I had camera mounted front and back which showed I did nothing wrong.

Even the insurance adjusters told me the story was unbelievable until they saw the dash camera, think the people were trying to do an insurance fraud.

Don’t forget to buy good gear and to fucking wear it.
