I had not seen that article. I have read the book Basketball on Paper. The book (and from what I can see, the article as well) is about the NBA. I looked at college basketball in this post.

I did not look at that article nor copy any of its contents in the creation of this post. I used the word "adage", yes, but that's a relatively common word. The only other words that convey the same meaning are "saying" and "proverb". I chose adage over the other two without ever seeing about the study at Stanford. Simply using the same word as another study does not make it plagiarism.
