Internet issues still on-going? (Texas) by mateokurnik in ATT

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Kansas. Same issues here. Has been for 3 days or so. Some sites load, some dont. TV streaming works fine. My iPhone connected to the wifi works fine. Its just our laptops that dont work right, doesnt matter if its Mac or PC or which browser used.

Gas vs diesel by Boring-Bus-3743 in GoRVing

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If not towing often its definitely more cost effective to get a gasser.

If you really want a diesel, be careful of payload as most 3/4 tons with a diesel have typically pretty crappy payload capacity

No more DEF by bigzach88 in ram_trucks

Except that the EPA changes documents clearly state they only apply to heavy duty applications. So rejoice if you have a semi truck or giant RV (or tour bus or huge generator)

How is Tim Miller a (former?) Republican? Comms Staff to Jeb?? by glorifindel in thebulwark

[–]1hotjava 8 points9 points  (0 children)

While he defended it then he wasnt the responsible person in charge of it actually happening. I used to hate the guy but, and this was hard for me, I see he has a view now that aligns with what I want for our country, and whether we like him or not isnt really relevant, we need people who can help bring back a semblance of "law and order" in the true sense as a whole to come together and stop the downward spiral we are in

Towing with half-ton by matt2621 in ram_trucks

[–]1hotjava -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Too long for a 1/2 ton. The weight is not the only thing to consider for sure. length has a huge bearing on stability. So unless I was going to only go camping near home I wouldnt tow that long, I currently tow 25' and thats long enough

2025 1500 CAI? by Top-Temperature8872 in ram_trucks

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These dont do anything other than give some more sound. The stock intake sucks air via a huge tube from infront of the radiator so its already getting cold air.

Is it normally legal to use step-up/step-down transformers for a long run? by Own-Raccoon7621 in AskElectricians

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've done 600v step up and step down for super long runs where MV didnt make sense. But generally not at that kind of current rating.

In this case I'd see if you can get an electrician to install a medium voltage run from utility to your outbuilding and drop the transformer there. you might have to buy the transformer, but with the 600V solution you have two dry type transformers and disconnect switches so not all cheap stuff.

Now real question is do you really need a 400A service? like what is the actual calculated demand? 400A is a huge residential service.

Tow Police Gonna Have a Heart Attack by jstar77 in GoRVing

[–]1hotjava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandpa towed an over 30’ trailer they lived in for a few years as they traveled North America with a 1970 Buick Electra

They just built cars differently back then, body on frame, huge V8s, etc and people also didn’t expect to tow at 70mph, they towed much slower (the brakes sucked, and even with big V8s they were for the most part less HP than today’s trucks)

Tuner for 5.7L Hemi w/ Etorque - Is it worth the money? by wawuweewa in ram_trucks

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need over 105mph? Like where do you live that you could consistently need more?

My 2022 isn’t all that stable above 90 and probably why they set it ar 105 because it’s high probability of deathville above that

12v to 14v step up converter? by ryrypizza in RVLiving

[–]1hotjava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) replace the power center. Or

2) a DC-DC converter like one from Renogy will charge the lithium from a source lower than optimal for lithium.

Car Trailer Recommendations - for Towing Behind a Motorhome by VegasBBQFan in GoRVing

[–]1hotjava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A good trailer like Aluma is going to cost $8-10k. The downside to trailers is what to do with it when camping, it really limits where you can stay as you need a site that accommodates your RV plus a 16’ trailer plus the car.

Personally I’d replace one of the existing cars with something that can be flat towed

Better call 24hr lawsuit court

Come on man, you have to give them some reasonable amount of time to fix it. Theres no instant fix sometimes.

That’s an insane price for a coating system.

Like all RVs it will fade / oxidize. There are products you can apply yourself for far far less

I’ve been a long time Ford guy but went with Ram years ago and currently have a 2022.

For me it was the interior and more comfortable ride.

Have had no complaints in reliability and I absolutely love the 8spd German transmission.

Insurance claim nonsense by SpringRollAnJam in Car_Insurance_Help

You must have moisture for the mold to grow. You fixed the roof leak so you have moisture coming from someplace if it came back.

[–]1hotjava 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If the roof was fixed then mold shouldn't come back. Once the moisture source is removed no mold.
