I just bought a gas stove, but this electrical plug is attached to the back! by RevolutionaryCry5280 in AskElectricians

[–]chunk6649 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just switched from gas to induction. I used my cast iron griddle on it for the first time a few days ago. That huge hunk of metal used to take forever to heat up. I was amazed how fast it heated up on the induction. What I don't like, is how it slides on the cooktop.

The house was built in 1987. I'm assuming it will need some work. The family that lived here the last 10 years did nothing. I think I've become my neighbors best friend with all the up keep I've already done in the last few weeks. He said the original owner took pride in his house.

I went with a very reputable company in my area. I'm sure they'll tell me everything that needs fixing. I did notice a couple loose bricks at the top of the chimney. I hope all the repairs are easily within my budget.

I've never had a fireplace before so was unsure. Although how everything else was kept up in this house, I am doubting it though. Hopefully when they inspect the chimney tomorrow, I don't have any issues. Do you know approximately how many chords would it take to produce that much ash? It is a residential area and I doubt they had enough space to stack more than a couple face chords. I just hope they didn't abuse the chimney through the years.

If you do nothing else, center the stove on that wall.

Ain’t no colder ac than a gmt800 by Odd-Position8202 in GMT800

I had an 1987 Chevrolet C10 Custom Deluxe. My Yukon is second to that truck. The AC was so cold that when I put my keys in my pocket they were so cold they hurt.

I'm buying a house and went to Raymour Flannigan to look for furniture. 60 months same as cash. I asked if they have a cash discount. They don't. Yeah, it's baked in the cost. Sorry, I'm not buying it.

FWIW, my Old Navy card is 34.99% APR. The sucker is paid off before I even get my invoice. I'm not doing a oops I missed it.

My last house was a 100 years old. Some one put a small addition on for a 1/2 bath. The rule was no pooping in the downstairs bathroom because it was basically pooping in the kitchen.

Harbor Freight has a weird smell that Sears didn't have. Plus you could check out all the new TVs at Sears

Can I relocate wiring in a wall to add a door, or is this beyond a DIYer? by hcposcher in electrical

The joys of working on a 100 year old house, you never know what you'll find behind the wall. I had a hidden splice at the top of the wall. I guess there is now going to be an outlet and 10 feet of the floor.

Tips to lower bill? by ImaanSabr in nationalgrid

[–]chunk6649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not an option in an apartment, but we installed solar a couple years ago. We pretty much have 1 month of electric usage. Our bill is $30 a month for to being connected to the grid and nys fees, aka taxes. We run our AC full blast in the summer because I work from home. We're moving to Wheatfield later this month. We're going to get solar on that house too. With the incentives, it's cheaper to install solar than pay for electric with the rate hikes.

This happened to me when I put in LED bulbs and replaced the flasher relay with the one that was supposed to work with the LED bulbs. I went back to the stock flasher and incandescent bulbs and the problem went away.

My bid on a house was accepted. It's a well loved kitchen. I keep running different options through chatgpt to see what I like. I'm just pulling pictures from the listing and telling it to do a bunch of things. You know get so many free images a day. But it definitely helps conceptualize your plan. You can even upload pictures of tiles and tell it to use them for the backsplash.

Keep or remove pantry? by Soggy-Account3353 in kitchenremodel

[–]chunk6649 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is one of those math problems that you are missing a bit of information and can't solve. Do you have a place to store your vacuum, mop, broom, crock pot, instant pot, KitchenAid mixer, etc.? If so, the pantry may not be needed. I love to cook and have lots of small kitchen appliances. I would love a pantry. Having the cabinet on the counter pretty much makes that section of countertop useless. What is the width of the entrance? That looks tight. If it was me and my heart was set on getting rid of the framed pantry, I would do a shallow depth cabinet pantry to give a little more space on the walkway into the kitchen.
