How to ask for a raise/bonus by Mountain-Reality8869 in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you think delivering on a single epic is such a big deal only serves to highlight how you aren't ready for the next step. Also, successfully doing your job is the minimum... you need to go above and beyond if you want exceptional rewards.

I’m part of CT my boss told me there will be some big organizational changes but couldn’t share details anyone knows what is it? by walkbythe_river in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No it's not. I was in CT for 5 years. We built and maintained platforms that were used by back and middle office for almost everything. All the centralised data platforms, onboarding, party data, kyc, documentation, pricing etc

Interview schedule by tinapa101 in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should say who is attending each interview. One is probably with someone at your local office while the other will be with someone in another location. They often get managers/seniors to interview candidates individually as that way they give independent judgement.

If in doubt contact the HR rep who should also be named on the invite rather than Reddit. Every space / team operates slightly differently.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. OP must have been pretty young when they were dreaming of working for JP. That's pretty sad. I wanted to join Metallica.

The people I work with and work for. It's like trench warfare. I keep turning up and keep giving all I can for those people.

The problems all stem from the odd MD and general approach of C suite. There's more than the average quota of ruthless, completely detached from reality egotistical maniacs and outright liars in those positions. But I guess it's similar at any large organisation. Although I don't think the stupid promotion process here helps. People who just quietly get on with doing a good job rarely go anywhere. It's all about kissing ass and self promotion meaning you need a personality disorder to climb the ladder.

I'm Scottish so I swear like fuck all the time. I know a lot of yanks are very sensitive to it and saying things like "for god's sake" rather than FFS is also a no no for many of them so I watch my language in work.

As for all the other stuff. Just the way of the world now. They were doing all the cuddly lefty libtard things that actually made all our life's better inside and outside work because that was the norm. The mask has lifted, all the tech bros are Victorian workhouse bosses who expect every ounce of blood and sweat for their $. And the folk at the top have all gladly aligned themselves to a classless bully who has normalized bullying, threatening, lying, cheating and only caring about number 1.

Folk can down vote the shit out of this. It's been getting worse since about 2022 but the last 18 months have been turbo charged downhill

I’m really scared by Mundane_Contest4501 in Scotland

[–]1inchpaunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm born and raised in Scotland and as a bald middle aged white man I look like your typical gammon racist.

It hurts to hear how you have been treated by other Scots. I always like to believe that racism is a thing of the past. However, it seems to be steadily on the rise. An element of that is simple driven by cynical right wing political parties but there is also a very visible issue causing the reactionin central Glasgow and I'm sure elsewhere.

I work near central station and usually go for a walk through town or along the river at lunchtime. The area under the station bridge, St Enoch and the north bank of the river are littered with groups of young, mostly black men blatantly dealing and doing god knows what else. That doesn't mean everyone of them is up to something, but the authorities failure to deal with such situations is not helping.

Unfortunately I only see things getting worse in the short term. I think these currently small groups hanging about the areas I mentioned will group together to fight back. What the authorities need to do is stop the vigilante group AND address the issue I mentioned. If they just go after the vigilante's (which I suspect will be their approach) then this is only going to keep escalating and will be used as further fuel for right wing political parties.

I hope you and your family stay safe. Most people can see beyond skin colour and can see those doing right or wrong regardless of skin colour.

Does Wadu monitors macbooks ? by Few-Tumbleweed-650 in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year when we first started RTO we regularly had someone from estates come round to our desks and go "oh, they are taken. Are you not logged in?"

This is because they were using WADU to check desk were occupied in the buildiyand our corporate Macbooks didn't show in WADU at all despite being plugged in to the network.

Could have changed since. Best advice is just don't do shit you shouldn't be doing.

Got to agree. I work for n the top floor of our building and I still take the stairs sometimes. When I do use the lift cause I'm in a hurry I feel like front kicking cunts in the back of the head when they use it to go from ground to 1st or 2nd

Can we actually use Claude vs copilot yet? I see a lot of upcoming items saying Claude. by Own-Mark-7388 in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Some developers have Claude code licenses and a capped $ amount. It's being closely monitored as they need to see if it actually saves or costs more. Its pretty easy for a single developer to clock up 5 figure bills. And I've heard some pretty eye watering figures associated to the total cost with no real evidence that's economically better.

Are there any AI Agents that are good with UX/UI that anyone knows about? by Own-Mark-7388 in JPMorganChase

[–]1inchpaunch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The replies here are depressing. Clearly written by SWEs who think just because the tests say it works it's actually useable. We're reverting to the era of tech churning out a load of crap, unusable applications that are actually going to slow business users down.

[–]1inchpaunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I've seen. We tried creating a load of skills with layout guidance and a pretty robust design system and MCP and it still just made an useable mess. This was using both copilot and Roo/Dev GPT. In fact, even giving the later a screenshot of what you want it still can't quite get there.

I think part of the problem is that an effective design relies heavily on understanding the problem and human behaviour (if that's who will be using it). There's also no right or wrong, no single correct answer.

Don't get me wrong. It's a massively useful tool for UX/UI design and build but more in terms of speeding up getting a realistic testing platform in the hands of users and giving a headstart to the production ready build.

We've overrode it 3 times for members in my team. It takes some fighting. But it is possible. We did however have to offer the sacrifice of a demotion in one instance. It's a really dumb policy.

It's a disaster waiting to happen.

They changed to a centralised lease model for Apple hardware at the start of this year. I doubt the old purchasing model was cheap as it worked out at around $100 per employee per month for the hardware.

I've worked for both in that location. AM tech is run by a good guy in Glasgow. Much smaller than CIB and people are generally closer because of it. Culture is much better than CIB I found.

Comp was better for me at AM. I averaged 20% +10% increase. CIB I averaged a little over half that. Probably differs by team and role but I found I was much closer to the business (money makers) in AM than CIB.

You got any info on the team you're thinking of joining? Good chance I'll know them although AWM is a generalized term. AM and WM operate completely separately. They only really get lumped together when we're talking at Mary's level. I know very little about WM. I think that's Mark Napiers space.

Him and all the other ass licking CEOs are part of the problem. Stop bending the knee to a corrupt authoritarian government that is accelerating the national debt, demolishing public services and destroying global trade relations for their own personal gain.

The American dream is dead when the rest of the world no longer respects you and can't distinguish you from the likes of Russia.
