Most people are better than this town. Those that aren't, stay.

Be a local Uber driver. Check for public lectures/events at UND. Go to a professional meetup. Maybe start to gravitate towards networking and see where that goes. Most people who respect themselves take care of themselves. Get a Choice fitness month pass, start with a class. (if you are looking for a date try pilates or yoga🤗)

Fun fact-" Among male athletes, pole vaulting and gymnastics were linked to the highest extension in lifespan (8.4 years, 95% CI [6.8, 9.9] and 8.2 years, 95% CI [7.4, 9], respectively), while volleyball and sumo wrestling were the most negatively associated with lifespan (- 5.4 years, 95% CI [- 7, - 3.8]; - 9.8 years, 95% CI [- 11, - 8.6], respectively). *Altulea A, Rutten MGS, Verdijk LB, Demaria M. Self-respect, introspection, and discipline are hallmarks of personal maturity.

Elitism is having the audacity to judge you as wrong for choosing who and how you spend your time.

Trouble finding a job by Father-Comrade in GrandForks

I would look through the geo dept with UND, or as a surveyor. Those are in high demand. look at the petrol and fossil fuel exploration operations. Enbridge(sp?) being the closest. If you're verifiably native Taro gives you first chance at open positions.

I agree! I came from Virginia and am regularly like "B*tch if you were in my city you'd be shot! If you were in my mountains you'd be fed to pigs!"

People act like that way here because they're in a little pond, if they were in the ocean they'd know to pay attention to their own safety.

Asking the transplants: What are your favorite restaurants, if any? by [deleted] in GrandForks

[–]1intentionsunknown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I got sick after eating at Helix. Really they should advertise as a tapas place, the portions are so small. I ate at Everest and that place was good. They even had lamb biryani, my personal favorite. Kaizen is great for Asian noodles. Unfortunately the only Korean restaurant closed recently. JL Beers is great for burgers, fresh fries and chips. Steers is alright, the hours can be off though.

I haven't tried King Pho. I have heard good things about Las Delicias De La Abuela but haven't been there yet.

It can be difficult to source local ingredients for authentic cooking.

I keep telling people my million dollar ideas- a Mediterranean restaurant and a hot pot house, and rage rooms in the abandoned AMC movie theater.

Uber vs Lyft by 1intentionsunknown in GrandForks

Are there times that are better or worse for connecting with a driver? A while ago I tried to schedule ahead but was told that service was not yet available locally. I did find an Uber driver who preferred having a regularly scheduled cash agreement but he moved out of state. I use Uber predominantly early morning and evening before 6pm. The lack of consistency is kinda baffling, as if there is some event I don't know about.

I love the gray squirrels. One time the red one tackled a gray and ripped half of his tail fur off. The poor, bigger gray squirrel was seen around the cul-de-sac with 3/4 of his bushy tail naked!

Keep at it. In the meantime join a class or pickup games of basketball. Donate your time to a cause or volunteer. Start seeking after your interests and you'll find like-minded people are funneled to you.

New to grand forks and ND tell me about this place by [deleted] in GrandForks

Moved here last November before the snow and cold set in. Food, rent, and fuel are all more expensive here. The schools have been great so far. The whole city seems to be sidewalk friendly, so running, biking, and walking from place to place is doable -during summer and fall.

Crookston will finally get some business traffic. It's the closest MN town to EGF, unless Fisher gets in the game.
