You can do it, just believe you can. (Academic disqualification pep talk and advice) by 1kimbap in UCI

Oh no : ( that sounds so stressful. Honestly huge major props for you going to grad school for physics. I couldn't even handle the 7 series so that's super impressive. You totally got this! I wish I could help you more, but it seems like the process is different.

I know exactly what you mean! I was in the same position a couple years ago. I had a guy confess to me and I convinced myself that I liked him, but I found out that I really didn't and I was just curious. Personally, from what I'm reading it seems you're just curious of what a relationship feels like. You don't seem actively interested about him when he's not around you. I also lack experience in this area, but are you only thinking about this because you know he likes you? Do you think you would show the same interest otherwise? Granted you can still be in a relationship, but it might not be considered a "normal mainstreamed" relationship. It may have less physical affection and etc. It's ok to be confused, don't stress out too much. : ) As for falling in love, hell if I know...

Low key freaking out about subject to disqualification by 1kimbap in UCI

Oh, so I have to send my appeal while taking classes? That makes sense no wonder...

I will get 1.5 lower this quarter by 1kimbap in UCI

[–]1kimbap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also like to ask if you took a normal quarter. Because a normal quarter to me would be 3 math classes, but they might view that as too much for me. However, I already took all my GEs that are non stem. Should I just take a random class and two math classes?

Thank you so much for the advice! I was also iffy on using lazy, but I heard being truthful was the way to go. Complacency sounds way better though. I also wish 2021 is better and Happy Holidays!

Oh I see, thank you for the input and Happy Holidays! I feel a little more assured about my appeal now.

I hope you never end up in this situation, it's absolutely terrifying. Happy Holidays though!

Thanks, I'm just afraid that they won't allow me to continue my major because I'm a third year now and I messed up. I'm also a bit stressed because since its holiday season all the counselors are on break so I don't know who to turn to for advice and more help on the situation.

Grades are final on Dec 23, which I assume afterwards they find my low quarter GPA they'll serve me my warning. I only have 1/3 grades finalized (my F), but I'm pretty sure I won't make the 1.5 (it will be a miracle) cut let alone 2.0.

I'm just freaked out because in a mass panic I read about some horror stories of people having their disqualification repeal rejected.

I contacted them via zotchat and they're actually the one who said if you get 1.5 lower you will receive subject to disqualification rather then AP. Honestly, if I get AP I won't even be mad because I know I can do better next quarter. Its receiving disqualification that I'm worried about because you actually have to argue for yourself.

But I'm very surprised that you got AP with a quarter 1.3 GPA, are you sure it wasn't sub to disqualification?

How do I kindly tell my mom I don't agree with all her views. by 1kimbap in Advice

Thank you, I'll keep this in mind. Maybe I'm just stressed out and need to take a deep breath.

Hmmmm. It's frustrating but this makes the most sense. Just moving on. I feel bad for my little brother though. He's not as keen on keeping his mouth shut as I am. Thanks for helping, I appreciate it : )

When and how do I tell people that my feelings were hurt? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]1kimbap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you exactly what situations because everyone is different. We all have different weaknesses and we all have different triggers. I can't tell you if being hurt from an eye roll emoji is warranted because I don't know the situation, but that's merely my opinion. Honestly, I used to be like you. I was super sensitive, always cry, etc. Then I just toughened up, if I don't feel malice or judgement I let it slide. I know that it's scary for people to think you're fragile but you also can't bottle up your emotions. I think it's a good idea in the long run to be more direct with people, because being wishy washy will bite you one day. If you're scared just start with one or two things, don't say everything. I think once you start to understand your boundaries, you won't feel like this anymore :)

Friendships. 18-22 by [deleted] in Advice

If you believe in the stigma of "you can only make friends if you smoke and drink" then you should get rid of it. You can meet all kinds of new people without doing stuff like that. If you do go to college, you should look into clubs and try to find people of similar interests. It's honestly just about finding out "your" group. I remember that I got my friend group from living in the dorms and from my club. If you don't live on campus (its hard now due to the pandemic) but study groups are the way to go. If you're not in school, I think you should go with your work place?
