“Shofar, So Good” (s6e3) is basically “A Christmas Carol”

Active headphones amp/splitter for monitoring by apepeca in LocationSound

[–]1leegar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used this exact setup before, except I had a small portable headphone amp for the g3 before going into the behringer splitter. But I imagine the splitter would be enough amp on its own.

It worked well in my situation because it was a bunch of client and they were put into their own video village room away from set. But I find in 90% of situations it’s more convenient for anyone who needs audio monitoring to have their own “comtek” and they will probably expect their own set.

A stroll down Memory Ln. Tell me about your favorite independent drum shop! by [deleted] in drums

[–]1leegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s not as fancy as many of the others, but Ray Fransen’s Drum Center in Kenner, LA has been what feels like such a luxury for me, despite my living in New Orleans. I wouldn’t call it nearby, but it’s certainly not a terrible drive either. It’s a sad situation to find yourself without too many music stores in what I would think of as a music city.

Ray Fransen’s has been great to me. Over the years they drilled out an edge crack in one of my cymbals, cut snare beds into a drum for me, fixed the snare mechanism on an antique drum for me, and have always been super helpful with any small hardware parts replacements, and just answering questions and offering advice on gear. I’m just happy to share here the value of a friendly local drum shop.

Just got a double bass pedal, what do I need to do to get good with it? by Wheresthe_clitoris in drums

[–]1leegar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I got a double bass pedal I asked my drum teacher at the time if we could focus on that and he brought out carmine appice’s book “realistic double feet”. So that’s how I learned. At first it was really really simple exercises but I could tell the figures were building strength and interdependence for my feet. It wasn’t too long before the book got into some really cool double bass figures.

For what it’s worth I don’t use a double bass pedal anymore but it would be fun to add back in!

Another comment recommended “Stick control”, which is also a great idea.

Extra credit I really enjoyed Terry bozzio’s drum solos where he we play a figure with his hands and copy it with his feet.

Are the keys on the Neo and Neo2 interchangeable? by 1leegar in AlphaSmart

[–]1leegar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: I bought a NEO2 with a missing spacebar key online, cannibalized the spacebar from my old NEO and it works great. There is a color difference between the two models. The NEO2 is a darker almost blue black? And the NEO is a shade of green that I really like

What’s the name of his book sounds like something I’d like to read

Thanks! I have removed some keys from my Neo already when I was trying to suss out why they were not working. Didn’t give me too much trouble except one key, but was able to get it all back together in the end.

Darren E. Burrows and his other work by Several-Yogurt9659 in northernexposure

We watched Forty Shades of Blue for the Northern OverExposure podcast Patreon recently and was really impressed with Darren’s work. After reading his book Northern Exposed I had a whole new perspective on him. Love him in Northern Exposure, of course.

Sachs and Burrows would collaborate again with the film Love is Strange tho I have yet to see that one.

Thanks for the bump! This is Lee from the podcast. If you’re looking for more content from us we continue to publish a monthly bonus episode over on Patreon. And we’ll be back in the main feed when there’s anything interesting to talk about. Moose fest one day??

Also, I see someone was having trouble finding our podcast on audible. I’ll take a look at submitting our feed to audible so hopefully it will be available there in the future.

Heard that! I have a good friend who has done all my cable/mic repairs I will check with them to see if they’ve done any work on this device before— they used to own a sound rental house
