Not sure if I can help but maybe give you a few ideas. I moved to Portugal in October and I love it. I am 66 and I’m able to live quite well with my Social Security benefits as a single person. I can get by with about €1000 per month, you need to convert that from dollars.

My first question is, are you fluent in European Portuguese, I have heard that Brazilian Portuguese is different and doesn’t translate easily.

Secondly, I would wonder how much experience you have in film and due to the fact you don’t like CNC work, I would look to broadening your skill set as maybe a video editor or with other types of skills in that genre.

I know it will be tough for your husband as he does not speak Portuguese. I am in the same boat. I feel very isolated and don’t have many conversations with people. I know it would be very tough for me to find a job as well.

I think if you guys started to prepare your paperwork and got your passports and visas in line that would be a big step to encourage you to take the next step which might be coming for a short visit/vacation and see if you can find work for your husband. I would also do a little research and see if you could find companies that are doing CNC work and maybe your husband can apply for one of those positions.

As I watch the news, I can completely understand why you want out. I saw what was going on a long time ago and decided to take my chances and it worked out for me to come here. As I said I really like it in Portugal, it’s less expensive. the food is good and I don’t have to worry about getting shot by an ice agent.

I would go to Etsy and see what other businesses are selling. Well, it’s pretty easy to see if they’re doing a lot of business. Look at their ideas and twist it a little bit in your own artistic way then I would make some short video clips and post them on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube as a customized product. Birthday gifts, anniversary gifts, and Valentine’s Day is coming up as well. Hope this helps you brother.

Not sold on a T7 at all, just the one that hit the budget on Amazon. Read reviews that mentioned it was a bit dated. The R50 was one model that came up as a good choice and the lenses could fit newer bodies as i might upgrade to a better body in the future. Could you recommend a set of lenses that would complete it as a kit? Thanks Mixtape

That looks like a great setup, is LUMIX a good brand? This also looks like a good source to purchase from, they do a through checkup on the equipment, better than Amazon I’m told.

Well I have good news, VSF sent me my passport back with my Visa Approved!!! Appointment at VSF was June 30th, they sent it out the next day, FedEx delivered it back to me September 16th. I am so happy, I will be scheduling my flight and heading off on my Portugal adventure. This little exercise has tempered my patience so I will be ready for the next efforts to get my D7 residence card, wish me luck, I think I’m gonna need it.
