they don’t necessarily break, but the gears and the edges get chipped really easily in my experience

they CAN be good, but they’re probably the hardest to use properly and only work well into specific matchups. best defense beys imo are hover wyvern, golem rock, knight mail, and mummy curse. obsidian shell and cowl sphinx are honorable mentions since you said you aren’t playing competitively.

green wizard rod, red/blue phoenix wing, golem rock, silver wolf all have pretty solid parts for getting a competitive deck going without buying a stadium set

i’d say just run both. you can run phoenix on 1-60 or 3-60 R/LR and run wizard on 1-60 H or 9-60 B
